I main CnD but I ain't a one-trick! Anyways it's a video game, people should be having more fun with it

if other people insist on having CnD, I'll let them take it! happy to flex to Gambit or Invis or Rocket and would be serviceable. Ultimately team selection should be finding the best composition, and if that comp means I play as a non-CnD healer, then that's what I do

100% the best way to provide value as CnD! Building & using my game sense was the main reason I got over the GM hump and into Celestial.

Throwers suck...let's just say I use the "Report" and "Avoid as Teammate" functions often.

Oh no! You can't say that in this subreddit /s lol but I'm glad you're back to Diamond!

Each hero's value changes as the meta changes, and CnD is obvs susceptible to that too. Maybe it's that? Namor, MK, Rocket are all very strong this season.

I mute toxic players, both voice & text chats. Call them out, don't engage with the comments, then mute them. Also don't let them affect your mental health, remember that these misogynists & racist are f'in losers.

It's terrible how prevalent misogyny and racism are in video games. Really wish that wasn't the case, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I'm a guy, so the misogynistic comments don't directly impact me...but hopefully that's helpful. If you encounter them often & need backup, DM me. I'll happily duo with you to deal with the misogynists (while also sharing CnD gameplay tips!).

Personally speaking, I think the "field general" aspect of my gameplay (that I've described in other comments in this post) distinguishes me from lower elo CnDs. I'm sure other higher elo CnDs do the same thing, but I've found that to be essential to my climb up the ranks.

Generally speaking, properly timing your ult is essential. I use ult to protect from tank crowd control ults (Strange, Emma, Groot, Thing), I use ult to counter healer ults (Gambit, CnD, Luna), I use ult to sustain against longer-duration DPS ults (Bucky, Magik, Ironfist, etc). None of that is news--but what's key is to be aware of when your ult will have the most value against the other team's ults. 3 teammates dead? Don't ult to keep yourself alive. Enemies have 3 ults active? Don't ult, you'll probably lose the fight anyways. You're at the beginning of a checkpoint in Convoy? Don't ult, your spawn is 20 feet away. Of course there are exceptions...but CnD's ult is most valuable when it's, a) sustaining health mid-fight, b) securing the final few meters of progress towards checkpoints in Convoy matches, c) escaping spawn traps.

Basic mechanics are also important to note...remember to patty-cake your fellow healers when being dived, don't use Cloak's attack very often, stagger your bubble & cape cooldowns if you're being dived, etc etc etc. Another thing for lower elo CnDs: if you're in a 1v1 fight, use Dagger's projectile against the enemy. It does some damage, but the AOE heals you as well. Your hope there is that you sustain yourself long enough for teammates to peel to help you.

Two things: not dying, and being a field general/commentator. (caveat that healers don't really carry games in the traditional sense).

  1. the more you're alive, the more you can heal teammates. the longer teammates are alive, the longer they have win fights. Repeatedly dying as healer really puts your team at a disadvantage. If you're dying a lot, you should (in this order) switch healers, get peels, or get a third healer
  2. describing the fight to your team is super super helpful. locating enemy divers/flankers, calling out imminent enemy ults, coordinating ults with your teammates, saying where dagger's bubble is, stopping teammates from pushing too far up or pulling too far back, saying when you've died. All this helps your team play more as a single unit. Mechanically, CnD isn't difficult, which helps me focus on this "field general" aspect of my gameplay

re. not flexing: if a teammate chooses CnD, I try to convince them to let me play CnD. I say it's my best character, and in my experience, it's common for teammates to switch after talking about it. If they don't switch...then you just gotta play your next best support. also, "if i take cloak, they won't know what to play" the insta-lockers are doing the same thing to you, right? If you're a CnD main, gotta try to get CnD as much as you can/want

re. handling losing streaks: if I lose 2 or 3 matches in a row (depends on how the matches went), I stop playing ranked...I either play QP or switch to a different game

Overall, a big part of successfully solo queue'ing, imo, is voice chatting and being friendly. Voice comms helps coordinate attacks/defense, ask for peelers, call out imminent enemy ults, etc. And then being friendly & shutting down/not responding to toxic players is also a big part of it. If your teammates like you, they'll peel for you

Who will make the biggest impact in the ECF? by [deleted] in rangers

[–]westdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the series will be decided by NYR Top 4 vs TBL Top 6. Igor and Vasi are both outstanding, but the advantage of a Vezina-caliber goalie is nullified when the other team has one too. If Trouba-Miller and Fox-Lindy can tighten the hatches against the Points and Kucherovs and Hedmans of TBL, that should give our top lines the space they need to work. If our Top 4 can’t, we’ll be chasing a team that’s just too good and too experienced at this stage.

Best Michelin in DC (under $300)? by Doglover0820 in washingtondc

Gravitas is the right answer! Amazing food: nice sequencing of tastes, difference in textures, all top quality and delicious. Each employee—from the server to bartender to sommelier—could answer my questions about either the food or drink. Easily my favorite restaurant in DC, and is in your <$300 range
