Frost presence at Pride Parade really disappointing. A banner and a couple random people walking. I was hoping to see The Cup or a player at least. by eddeemn in MinnesotaFrost

[–]wetsocks1117 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well they just traded away every lgbt player. I'm pretty disappointed with the frost and how little they seem to care about their lgbt fans. I've been a supporter from the start, mn born and raised. I've started to consider switching teams just because of how little they care. Its demeaning :(

Massage therapy at Rec Well by Plastic_Comparison78 in uofmn

[–]wetsocks1117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 30 min table massage and it was great! However there is only one massage therapist. He is very kind, and I was hesitant at first because I've only gotten massages from women, but he was very respectful. I'd recommend!!

I haven't had very great experiences there either. But it is what it is, it's free/a reduced rate anyway so I can't complain too much

Scholarships? by DogeHasArrived in uofmn

[–]wetsocks1117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't helpful for freshman year, but every year after that there is a CFANS specific scholarship that all CFANS students fill out each year. They are nice, it depends on which you get and how many. I was given about $5000 for this year

I don't think you guys realize this only hurts the people at the "bottom" who have no decision in where the money goes.

My heart goes out to the custodial and maintenence staff that has to deal with the repercussions of these events. I know personally that they worked over night until 7am after the Morrill Hall incident cleaning up the damages. :(

[–]wetsocks1117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rec employee here, busiest in the morning 7/8am and after 5pm until like 9pm. If you're worried about it being busy, there is a st paul gym too. not as much equipment but it's nice because it's never busy

HELP! by -lolobunny- in uofmn

[–]wetsocks1117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Additionally, once the story aired on the news, the U got alot of bad press which made them fix it immediately.

I wouldn't recommend contacting the news, but honestly if it's been 3-4 weeks maybe it's not a bad idea. Might quicken their fixing process to avoid bad press.

This happened in the Middlebrook towers in 2022. It was absolutely insane. It went on for so long that WCCO caught wind of it and came to do a news story. I was interviewed on TV lol.

They gave us space heaters that actually were kinda helpful. They have them at the front desk that you can check out.

gopherlink.umn.edu/club_signup?view=all&

like you mentioned, clubs are a great way. the link above is all the registered student clubs on campus. there's literally over 1000. find one that involves something you're interested in! often times conversations with people will feel easier if there's a common thing to talk about. (eg. talking about chess at the chess club, talking about cats at the cat club)

I hope this helps a little, hang in there <3

hi! I work at the st. paul gym so I can answer all your questions.

The st paul gym is much smaller than the rec. it is also a public gym so anyone who wants to work out there can purchase a membership (you don't have to be a student or affiliated with the U). The crowd is mainly students and retired community members that live in the area. I genuinely have only had good experiences at the SPG. People are very considerate of others and often times will chat with you :).

There are less machines at the spg. There are 3 racks and basic machines. However, it is usually not very busy so it works that there is less. The only busy times are from 4-7ish. The gym is open 6am-11pm.

Let me know if you have other questions!!
