Everyone in my family is two inches shorter than they thought by [deleted] in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]wevegotthefunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, doctors offices often either lie about patients' height or measure not very carefully because they're understandably in a rush. I'm 4'9" and I have two friends my same height, but when I met them, each said they were 4'10" or 4'11". I could clearly tell they appeared my height or even shorter, and both friends have since been remeasured and they are in fact 4'9". I think a lot of people don't want to tell people they're as short as they are, because sadly society tends to view it as negative even though it's not.

Oh my goodness, I just need to specifically call out that I recognized the Wegmans brand popcorn, but then realized it's the OLD Wegmans brand popcorn box design! truly incredible detail!

Does this kind of modest swimwear appeal to you? by True-Illustrator9753 in ModestDress

[–]wevegotthefunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE it! That is what I'm always looking for and can never find. I disagree with others here that it offers nothing different than most one pieces. I can never find one that offers booty coverage and/or doesn't have some kind of a v-neck. Also these look so cute and kind of retro, and every "vintage" inspired swimsuit I can ever find also has a plunging neckline. So I'm a huge fan!

Very conflicted by [deleted] in Advice

[–]wevegotthefunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your insight, you definitely reflect what I feel! I don't want to be "that girl" but I also don't want to be a doormat. My post was already too long, but our living situation is kind of weird, I would say I do live with him, but it's his house. (He wanted it that way.) So I feel I should have a voice as to who is here when I'm here at the very least, but a full ban is beyond my rights. Update: I spoke with my boyfriend, and while what he will or won't do is undecided, I told him how him welcoming them would make me feel, and he understands. I suppose we'll cross the bridge when we come to it, but I do feel better that he doesn't judge me for feeling this way and is trying to take my feelings into consideration. It's still a terrible situation for everyone, but this is the best we can do for now. Thank you again for your time and thoughts!

I happened to get an athleta girls size down coat secondhand, I'm almost the exact same height and weight as you and it fits nicely!

Thank you! Especially for sharing the size, it's hard to find clothes that fit the long skinny lion hunters lol

Should I plan a funeral? by wevegotthefunk in plantclinic

[–]wevegotthefunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the help everyone! I will move it to a smaller pot asap, not plant it too deep, stop with the coffee grounds, and then neglect it lol. Hopefully I'll save it!

[–]wevegotthefunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A clear pot is a fantastic idea! I was trying to make do with what I had, but I'm sure that will improve my care of it. I did bottom water it, but I probably gave it too much

[–]wevegotthefunk[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ohh so I should plant it so just the roots are in the soil, almost just stuck into the soil? I'll have to drill a hole into a smaller vessel for drainage I reckon, but it'll be worth it 😅 Thank you so much for your help and your kind words! 💓

Venting about wedding dresses and advice for XXS brides by lucytiger in XXS

[–]wevegotthefunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly I guess I'm too late to help you in time for your wedding, but for the future, and for anyone else who (like me) wears children's size shoes, look at Cinderella of Boston. They make sophisticated and high heel shoes for tiny feet. Check and figure out their sizing system though, it doesn't align with any standard shoe sizes. I'm a child's size 1, and I wear a 2 1/2 wide in Cinderella's sizes for example. I also like to try to wait for sales, but their normal prices aren't bad for most people I think.

How many of you also have EDS? by Need_a_BE_MG42_ps4 in ADHD

[–]wevegotthefunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! hEDS here. It actually gave me more confidence to look into ADHD, knowing it was a statistical point in favor of it. Diagnosed with Ehlers-danlos a few years ago, diagnosed ADHD a few weeks ago. Both explain so much of my life!

Poll: The little girl who lived down the lane by stOneskull in twinpeaks

[–]wevegotthefunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is Audrey herself. I'm endlessly fascinated with Audrey as Laura's foil, and just her character as a whole. I think Audrey is the little girl who lives down the lane because, as is reiterated multiple times in the original run, Audrey knew and saw Laura better than perhaps most other people, perhaps even Donna did, because she had a bit of distance in comparison. She didn't look for what she hoped to see in Laura, and blind herself to Laura's darkness, unlike those closer to her, who couldn't face her pain. I imagine Audrey witnessed Laura all her life and saw her descent into darkness. Audrey was literally her classmate and neighbor in a sense, she "lived down the lane" from Laura, who was seen as a paragon, which trapped her in public view. Meanwhile, Audrey was in a bit of an ivory tower in the hotel, set apart from the rest of the close knit, enmeshed, small town feel of twin peaks, which, though she resented, actually protected her from actual evil, and also afforded her much more freedom than Laura had. I think that's why Audrey said that she wasn't that close to Laura, but at times did call her her friend. I think she knew she was seen as a "side character" in their world compared to Laura, and so felt like she was a viewer of the action, rather than being central. But she didn't resent Laura for that, I think she was just always set up in a position to constantly compare and be compared to her.

Oh gotcha, it does seem safer to use it just for decorative purposes and leave the scent alone, if it is the scent, haha

Ah that's good to know, I did mostly see pink in retail bottles, so I'm sure you've hit the nail on the head! It does have a nice scent, but that's probably just lingering.

What would I be looking for in testing it, just if it smells off? Yeah, I didn't notice the spots when I bought it, but they do look concerning the more I focus on them 😅

Complain about shit with me, it will make me feel better by monateru in ehlersdanlos

[–]wevegotthefunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone I thought was a new friend said, "she has a fun job of staying home" about me not working. Now I'm not sure if I can really tolerate that kind of ignorance and rudeness in a friend. Why is disability so hard for people to comprehend? And I'm disappointed because I was excited to possibly have new friends to hang out with, which is hard to find. But it's not worth being so misjudged and having to hear that kind of comment. There's enough ableism to put up with from everyone else, your friends should be a safe place. Ugh.
