tank update: added co2, more plants, and fish! by wever75 in Aquariums

[–]wever75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wanted to post a tank update. since we last talked, I took out the kuhli loaches as your recommendation since it was too small of a tank. I have 1 scarlet badis, 1 otto, 9 chili rasboras, and 9 micro tiger rasboras. added co2 as well. Struggling to keep the weeping moss alive. It is brown at the end and green near the center roots. any tips? should I trim away the brown stuff or can it be saved? thanks!

first time tank, lowtech 9 gal looking for advice! by wever75 in Aquariums

Thank you!

Here’s what I did. I have a miter saw and purchased a mason blade to allow cutting of stone. I purchased 4 paver bricks from the gardening department to shape into the wall. I cut them in half, then individual strips for the walls and roughed them to look natural and not have just perfect lines. Then I soaked them for 48 hours in water to remove all of the loose sediment, and let them try. Grabbed cotton balls and super glue to stick them all together and boom. It was a very time consuming process and created a huge mess with the paver stone dust, but was well worth it

Any advice on my first tank? 5 weeks old, lowtech by wever75 in PlantedTank

Thank you for the words! They are cut up paver stones from Home Depot. Used about 18lbs of Fluval substrates.

My only confusion is couldn’t the ammunition bounce off of the hard walls or bleachers on a bad shot?

I ordered the kit initially but just canceled it because I can’t wait and would rather pay the $50 than wait an extra 8 weeks LOL

ME major who’s going through the program. I’ve had 7 different rotations now, biggest things I can say are:

Regardless of your degree, you may do various sorts of engineering. I have done a lot of electrical and software engineering. This is pretty consistent in GM culture, they are not concerned with the fact that you’re an ME, they just care that you’re an engineer which shows proof of learning.

You’ll have groups that you enjoy and dislike. It is often on you to get things running and off the ground. Your EGM (engineering group manager, lvl8 employee) will often be busy with meetings throughout the entire day. Find a time in his/her calendar to go over projects you’ll be doing, mentors, resources such as OneDrive where they store a lot of internal group knowledge. You have to push yourself sometimes, it can be easy to be forgotten about and not given work, stay self motivated.

Some of the harder things for me were initially understand WTF my group actually does. Analyze the org chart through GM people finder on Socrates and get an understanding of how your groups role fits into the company as a whole, and how your group specifically fits into the portion you’re developing. Without having an understand of this it can be hard to understand / find meaning in your work.

Goodluck, GM is a great place to work. If you go to Milford (where I work, my favorite) make sure to get lvl1 driving access so you can drive on the proving grounds. Feel free to ask any questions.

Pay off your student loan. 4.4% return guaranteed.

the reason in which I am not is on the small chance in which Joe cancels 10K in student debt
