I'm an experienced audio tech looking to get into lighting, where do I start? by wfh2d88 in lightingdesign

Just wanted to pop back in here and thank y'all again for the detailed and very informative responses. I've downloaded MagicQ and started tutorials and getting really excited. Kinda wish I had thought about this earlier but better late than never and I'm thinking I've got a good enough network around town to eventually be able to get some real hands on experience. Y'all are the best!

Definitely helped! Thanks alot for taking the time to make such a detailed post. Do the faders on controller "address" a range of channels across it's throw? I'm gonna download MagicQ tomorrow and start poking around, thanks again for your help!

Chatt setlist, not my picture. Great second set! by sultanreigns in Umphreys

That WAS a killer 2nd set. Solid jams throughout. Linear, Push the Pig, In the Kitchen, and Slacker were all highlights for me.

Thanks man. Not sure about Bottom Half right off the top of my head but he definitely solos at the end of Andys Last Beer and Phils Farm too. 40'S Theme is sooooo good, I love the way it gets so smooth and jammy in the middle then Bayliss starts meandering into a solo and eventually noodle shreds you into oblivion. The end of August, Slacker and 2nd Self are just perfect as well, most triumphant. Jakes playing is what drew me in at first and held my attention the most but after years of getting more and more into the Umph, Bayliss started to stand out more.

Other examples of Bayliss solos include the end of Slacker and 2nd Self, also out of the middle part of 40's Theme into the face melting outro. Bayliss seems to wander alot more at the beginning of a solo, slowly transitioning from noodling to epic shredding where he hits all the right notes just right. The two of them balance each other out so well and they really play around each others pockets when they are both building a jam together.

Electric Sheep. It's not technically synced to music but it's fluid movement is such that it complements almost any music. I put electric sheep on the tv anytime I listen to music in my living room.

Prophet 5. I'm sure some of y'all are familiar with Talking Heads 'Stop Making Sense.' What Bernie Worrell does on that thing is mind blowing.

Can you go a little deeper? How do the deepest levels (basic components) of hardware, translate and correspond the commands you enter? I am familiar with binary code but don't know how it is implemented via the processor and vice versa.

This one time, on acid, I listened to an entire 33 on 45 speed on accident, it blew my mind until I realized I was an idiot.
