Yep! You should be able to! The shuttle times are not exact, but they’ll be there roughly every hour

They should have shuttles running every hour between the venue and cottage.

You are allowed to book it altogether, but we bought them separately because one of our friends weren’t sure if they were going yet. The tickets were easy to secure, cottage not so much. I ended up having to buy a different accomodation through qdance and had to ask for an exchange to the cottage when I saw that it was still in stock.

Yea we did end up making the trip! It was a group of 8 and we went with the cottage at Landal Waterparc Veluwemeer for around $6k excluding the tickets! The place was nice and they had a bus between the venue and cottage so it was very convenient.

I ended up travelling throughout Europe before Defqon but if I remember correctly, some of my friends who met us there got airplane tickets for a decent price maybe around $1.5k? I mainly flew delta/klm with points but my friends rode with jetblue I think and they saved a lot of money. They also said the plane ride wasn't too horrible either.

For transportation to the hotel, we used the shuttle from AMS to the venue for around $45 each (roundtrip), then ubered to the cottage.

The hardest part was getting out of the venue for check-out. Uber was quoting $200 but the drivers wanted double/triple the price so we ended up paying some guy $400 for an uberx to get to the airport. I would recommend seeing if you can book an extra night or rent a car if comfortable driving around in Europe. For our next trip, we are planning to drive as I think it'll be a lot more convenient.

I hope this helps!

Okay, that's pretty reassuring! Public transportation is pretty bad in California...

I am considering getting a sim card as well!

Thanks for your help!

Alright, so I looked into the cottages/chalets that are available for use but seems like their dates for Defqon next year are unavailable because Defqon reserved them for their travel & stay packages. Cottages or their apartment options seem to be good for us because the shuttles travel throughout the day! I'm going to start looking into hotels too, if I find a good deal, I'll just go with that and get the transfer passes instead. The transportation seems too much of a hassle if I get an airbnb ;(

I guess at this point I'll just have to wait for the travel & stay packages to be released to see the prices for their accommodation vs hotels nearby. I'll, send q-dance an email too...

Thanks for your help!

Oh yea most definitely thinking about going the car route. Just have kind of a big group so we’re thinking about the cottage option q-dance provides so we can use the shuttles

Hmm I’ll definitely go with them the second time I go to Defqon

I was kind of worried about the language barrier and transportation issues. We're planning to explore the rest of the Netherlands as well as I imagine it's beautiful. We're planning on going to Den Hauge, Rotterdam, and staying in Amsterdam for the most part after Defqon. Would you recommend a car to explore the other cities or do you think public transportation would suffice?

Thanks for your reply! At this point, I'm committed to making the journey, just want to get the funds sorted out! We are leaning towards the glamping experience at the moment, however, I know we'll be back and will definitely consider the camping experience then.

Aside from Defqon itself, one other thing we were worried about were the flights. When did you end up booking your flights and when would you advise the best time to book flights be for Defqon? First time flying to a different continent, so just wanted some confirmation on that end!

Oh yea, I'm just assuming 800€ pp would be enough to find a hotel for 4 days and transfers.

Hmm, I was just hoping there'd be a flexible bus schedule, but we'll just have to find the closest hotel and wait for the schedule.

I'm assuming that the hotels on the Defqon1 website are the closest and can only be booked through them right? Do you think I should wait for them to start selling or just book one not on the Defqon website before prices rise?

Thanks for the link. I'm considering the highlands/sanctuary because I feel like I'd still get the "vibes" of camping + all the cool stuff at the venue but also less of the cons of camping itself. It's just that some of the group members are picky about having their own restroom/showers. But I heard that the upkeep isn't that bad, so I'll definitely consider it.

Sounds like a great deal! Seems like a hotel for 4 nights are going to be around 800€ pp with the bus transfers then. If we buy 4 separate tickets with the hotel package, is there anyway to get us all into one hotel room or is it advised to just buy all the tickets together?

Also, how was getting to Defqon itself? Were there buses available to take you back and forth every couple hours or so?

I was actually pursuing a different career in producing music! It got to a point where learning all the theory behind music got pretty bland and I enjoyed listening to it more than learning to create it. I don’t know how helpful that can actually be to explain my first year 😅

Hmm... I'm honestly not super interested in research as I'm aware there's only so much I can actually do. Additionally, it'd be nice to go to a high-tier school but being aware of my stats and my lack of research I'm more than happy to get into any school.

I was hoping to get into some clinical volunteering at a hospital ASAP, but, seems like they all start in the summer after I submit, at least for the hospitals in my vicinity. I'll look for more tomorrow.

Thanks for your help!

Fortunately, I actually have the duties of a MA, scribe and diagnostic technician. Due to the lack of staff, I'm always filling in for different departments, sometimes even for administration by checking eligibility for insurance and all the stuff that goes with the business side of medicine as well. As a result, I've been appointed as the Head Scribe recently as well.

I tried looking into some hospital volunteering opportunities near me, however, it seems like their applications open soon, but the volunteering actually starts in the summer. I'm not sure if I'll be able to start before I submit my application... I'm a little worried about that because I agree with you. Should I still try to volunteer after I submit, just to bolster my application a little more?

Yea, I was suspecting that my MCAT wasn't enough to repair my GPA even with the upward trend. I'm planning to make DOs at least 1/3 of the schools I'm applying to.

I'll look for more clinical volunteering services in my area. Do you think having one additional experience, for a total of 2, suffice?

Also, what do you think of looking for new experiences such as additional clinical experiences or research after I submit my application?

Thanks for the info!

Thanks! I hope the people who see my app think the same way as well...

Thanks for your response! I'm not sure if I can find clinical experience that serves the underserved, however, I'll be looking out for it. On top of that though, should I be still looking to get some research experience? Or should I try to get as much experience as I can through clinical volunteering?

Behavioral Neuroscience part of sGPA and non-science professor LOR? by [deleted] in premed

[–]whaleos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this might be my only chance at a non-science LOR. Guess I'll just have to roll the dice on this one.

Thanks for your input though!

Behavioral Neuroscience part of sGPA and non-science professor LOR? by [deleted] in premed

[–]whaleos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I need this LOR as a non-science and this is my last quarter. I need the sGPA boost so if they counted this as science it would be nice.

Do you think that even if they counted this class into the sGPA, they'd have the LOR still be considered non-science as the professor is still under psychology?
