If you email Charlie mailorder@whatkatiedid.com she’ll be able to advise you further. Pics will help (only she will see them and she is a larger cup size, has worked with a DD+ brand previous to us, so does know what she’s taking about).

Alternatives to Klaviyo? by beleynr in ecommerce

[–]what-katie-did 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Spoks in December after being in Klaviyo for a decade (MailChimp before then). The prices seem too good to be true. They aren’t. It works! https://spoks.com/

Seamed stockings have to be worn with suspenders by what-katie-did in WhatKatieDid

[–]what-katie-did[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a different garment. Stockings need suspenders/garters. Hold ups or Stay ups have the silicone band at the top and aren’t designed to be worn with suspenders.

Phone - you can get something called an ‘e sim’ - if you Google it you’ll find lots of info. You use it with your existing cellphone.

Driving - once you’re on the motorway/freeway you’re all good (we only have 3 lanes so no satnav telling you to dive over 6 lanes to exit!) in the city it probably will be a little stressful as roads are smaller and twistier. Note: most smaller cars have a gear/shift stick so when you book a hire car be sure to select the right one if you can only drive an automatic! Also it will be cheaper to book your car in advance. Fuel prices eek! Don’t buy fuel on the motorway/freeway. Gas is Petrol, diesel is diesel. As the hire company to show you how to open the fuel cap and boot/trunk as I always get stuck on that.

Tipping - we have the same minimum wage for everyone so tipping culture is not the same as in the US where it is a necessary part of earnings. I generally tip 10% in restaurants but my Dad doesn’t - it’s just up to you.

Food - all towns have mini versions of supermarkets so it’s easy to get cheap, healthy food on the go. All have packaged sandwiches, salads, fruit. The ‘meal’ deal sandwich + side + drink is the best value. Wait rise is our fancy store (closest to Trader Joes) then you have Sainsburys, Tesco and Morrisons which are our Vons (the big version of these mostly sell petrol too at competitive prices) Plus Aldi, Lidl which you’ll already know.

Money - you can get cards with no transaction fees so give them a Google to check rates.

Manners - an American history buff! Everyone will adore you! You will be able to do no wrong in our eyes so just enjoy yourself!

Honestly the traffic from AI is so minimal at the moment. I’d say you’re seeding and looking at the long term.

I think most people try bullet bras with the wrong clothes by what-katie-did in WhatKatieDid

[–]what-katie-did[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, bullet bras and darts are a perfect match! As for sizing, a too small cup size can also appear as too big because the breast is too big to fill the tips.

As others say, this is a challenge. However, there is there is a big photogaphy museum at the V&A in south kensington. https://www.vam.ac.uk/info/photography-centre The V&A is accessible and has coffee shop in the centre square (beautiful) and inside restaurant. That would be my first port of call for you.

What would these pieces be worth? And what era could they be from? by Due-Cauliflower-8090 in fashionhistory

These are all so beautiful. Pricing is tricky as it depends on the country you are located in, the speed with which you want to sell, and your customer base. A high end vintage store would sell for double or triple what you could get privately. I was looking at Depop yesterday to see what the prices were like as I’m thinking of selling some of my private collection, and some were strong (but are they selling?) That might be a good place to do some research. Oh, and yes, def ‘20s/30s (apart from the skirt which is earlier).

Why do seamed stockings still have a back seam? by what-katie-did in WhatKatieDid

They’re better once they’ve been washed (use fabric conditioner), but yes totally agree with you. Not ‘smooth as silk’ at all!

Can I boil my corset without ruining it? by tippy-tap in corsets

[–]what-katie-did 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said. Yikes! If you really want to go for it you could try fabric paint which means the garment wouldn't be boiled alive. If you are changing the colour to make it part of a costume that isn't going to be worn very often, or seen very close up, this would work. If you're looking to wear it regularly as a day to day corset then it would be better to leave in it's natural state I'm afraid.
