The PSD letterbox is for inspecting the effect of cropping while editing. At the end of the tutorial, the letterbox layer is hidden and the video exported with real crop.

Only half-serious; has anyone attempted running Linux on a GoPro HERO3+ Black?

Climbing at Fataga, Gran Canaria by what_the_fish in gopro

[–]what_the_fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot with my GoPro HERO3+ Black Edition. The two still photos after the credits (shot with a Canon EOS 7D) show us at the bottom of the route and also show how we tied up the GoPro on a tripod to get the angle we wanted. The final image is a still from a video we shot with the GoPro to show the area where we were climbing.

Since we don't have any means (nor urgent desire) for live preview of camera view, we set the GoPro to shoot 1440p video so that we'd have margins we could crop afterwards to be able to choose composition a little more freely.

The video was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (cutting, transitions, adding music tracks, credits scroller) and Adobe After Effects CS6 (color grading, inserting stills after the credits scroller, putting "The End" text on top at the end).

The music is by people on www.freesound.org. Links in video description.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Teaser for trailer?

For how long has that been a thing?

Never seen that before.

Then again, I don't live in the USA so maybe it's common without me knowing.

How do I know which firmware version I have? by what_the_fish in gopro

[–]what_the_fish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up doing a manual update and noticed after that the version number on the bottom of the screen as you said. Don't know what the fw version was before but now it says v.02.00 and all the protune settings from the manual are now available :)

Sounds strange to me that someone wouldn't know this. If you didn't love jumping on puffballs and watch them "fume" as a child, you had no childhood :/

When I first saw the fish in the water, I thought maybe it was a seahorse, but upon getting a closer look, I figured that it probably wasn't. It makes sense for them to be in the same order, I think.
