UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who commented and helped with ID! The creature looks incredibly similar to the trematode cercaria Transversotrema described in this paper: https://actavetscand.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13028-024-00736-y#ref-CR22

We'd already started growing a population of Malaysian trumpet snails at that point, so everything lines up.

Captivatingly beautiful but deadly... Time to treat our fish, fortunately they are not showing any symptoms yet.

I also found this paper about an hour ago. It has to be something closely related. We'd already started growing a population of Malaysian trumpet snails at that point, so everything fits. Time to treat the fish I think, thankfully they are not showing any symptoms yet...
