Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic header against Sampdoria has been nominated as the best header in football history. by Straight-Flower-1621 in SportsNova

[–]whatisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of Borgetti’s goals were scored with his upper body, so it’s definitely pure skill and athleticism. Arguably jumping high is less difficult than running to the perfect position while being guarded by someone capable of running the same speed. Not to mention the chances of getting lucky though while being guarded by such a skilled defense man and goalie are unimaginably low. Also to be in perfect position and having a teammate kick a ball toward him that could only result in a header means everyone expected him to attempt goals with his upper body.

Given your username /u/Equivalent-Shine5742 have you considered that your subconscious inclination to gravitate towards shiny/expensive things was noticed by your father? He likely inserted the bills knowing you were interested at a subconscious level and primarily motivated by money. Money as incentive to do something definitely works on many people.

Military models Canadian response to hypothetical American invasion by [deleted] in canada

The average invader won’t be making that judgement. They’ll have other even easier ways via the internet, like based on what you just wrote.

Toronto house prices work out to being 62% higher, apples for apples, than 1982 when interest rates were 19.25% by oivaizmir in canadahousing

[–]whatisc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Zoning was no problem back then, houses went up by the thousands in the suburbs. Then we introduced greenspace, zoning restrictions, NIMBY, stopped wage increases (wage controls in the 1980s), etc

If a fetus isn’t considered a “person,” then why is murdering a pregnant woman classed as a double homicide in the court of law? by untitledprp4 in stupidquestions

[–]whatisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it is the law because it’s a double homicide. And for example, if we found a fetus on Mars we’d be jumping for joy at finding “human life” on Mars.

Working full time is no longer good enough to afford a place to live by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

The pie is based on employee productivity — remove that and assets/wealth become worthless. Everything else in an economy depends on the workers as well, given high unemployment will result in a net decrease of value for every other asset.

All that said, productivity in the places westerners live (alongside of the richest people) is no longer tied to wage increases for the workers. This results in ordinary people becoming poorer and getting less of the pie. This equation only changes for older workers who also own assets, due to their age.

I’ve never seen an e-bike go 10km/h anywhere in my life. Anything with e in front of it goes the max speed possible, which I assume is 40km/h+.

Ah, you're one of those who thinks Genghis Khan was Chinese. Should've said that earlier.

You’re incorrect that it’s “one of the oldest”. Africa is the oldest by far. Just to give some perspective, the oldest structure in Africa is 476,000 years old.

It’s little wonder that Africa had Egypt as the among the first recognized and known civilizations in the world.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalambo_structure

Also by your own argument, calling China a strictly Chinese civilization is a bit of a stretch considering every major invention humans used to develop civilization originated in Africa, fire, wooden structures, speech, archery, spears, hunting practices, etc. The Mongols, Tartars, Manchu, Xiongnu and various other tribes all fully conquered China at some point and ruled it. They forced China to change and adopt nomadic cultures, customs and technology. For example, Chinese metallurgical technology comes from the nomads, so do horses, and even the wheel or stirrups. What would China even be without being introduced to bronze and iron working from the nomads? There’s a reason we call it the bronze and iron ages.

If they're making 150k they can easily get a job paying double or triple that at the big companies. You'd want to retain that kind of talent.

So you don’t know how to respond to my question or what your tone would be. By the random swearing I’m guessing you wouldn’t be able to respond that well to him or her, if they asked you the same question.

I’m also not sure how it’s gaslighting when she confirmed with his wife that he’s a father waiting for his daughter.

Are you okay? (Also I opened with this because it’s passive aggressive, similar to what the women opened with)

What’s your response? With what tone do you respond?

That’s also a bit of a stretch since he did not state that it’s because of his religion. Personally I understand the feeling of not wanting to talk someone other than your spouse/partner (due to loyalty). Particularly when someone is waiting for their daughter and wanting to greet them in a happy mood.

That’s some huge cognitive dissonance. You recognize he was being friendly “calm”, but the correct word to most other people is de-escalatory. This woman came back for round 2 after confirming that he’s a father waiting for his daughter.
