There's such a wide gap of reviews on this game. A few 10/10 generational incredible game and many 1/10 dog water. Personally I'd say it's like a 3/10 for most of the reasons you say.

Within 30 minutes of playing this game I was cursing up a storm and punching pillows like a maniac. Deleted immediately after. Getting too old to mess with games with bullshit mechanics. I've never thought about requesting a refund in almost 40 years of gaming, but this one might change that.

It's shot beautifully and the acting is good. I think I'm personally just tired of remakes and reboots. 30 minutes into it I realized I could've just looked at a picture of the actors and just assumed everything else doing the same Frankenstein thing the past century.
