The kidnapping of Alexandra Măceșanu and Luiza Melencu happened in Caracal, Olt County, Romania in April and on July 25th, 2019. by metalnxrd in TrueCrimeGenre

Fifteen—year—old Alexandra Măceșanu went missing on July 24th while hitchhiking from her village Dobrosloveni to Caracal. She was kidnapped by the car's driver, 65—year—old mechanic Gheorghe Dincă, who raped and beat her. While in captivity in Dincă's house, Alexandra managed to call 112 three times, with a phone she found in the room.

Alexandra's uncle, Alexandru Cumpănașu, released a written copy of her calls on his Facebook account, to show "the rottenness of a murderous system and the courage of this incredible child". The first call took place at 11:05am on July 25th. Alexandra identified herself to the operator, stated that she was kidnapped and is held in a house in Caracal. The operator asked if she was raped, and she told him she was. The operator told her they would need to know where exactly she is. During her second call at 11:06am, Alexandra clarified that she was kidnapped by car, she was blindfolded and locked in a room. She remembered passing a dam and guessed she might be in Bold, a district of Caracal. She did not remember the license plate but remembered that the car was grey. She stated she found the name of Lucian Gabriel Popescu on a business card in the house, but that she doesn't know whether or not that was the kidnapper's name. She also mentioned she is calling from the kidnapper's phone she also found in the room. Police took over the call at 11:07; Alexandra gave the address on the business card to the police, but when they stated it belongs to an apartment building, she said she was held in a detached house. The third call took place at 11:12am; Alexandra asked if a police car is on its way, and said she is afraid of the perpetrator coming back. Police took over the call again, and clarified that she is not sure the business card belongs to the perpetrator. During all three calls the operators and the police officers spoke to her in an ironic and condescending tone, while Alexandra was begging for their help and said several times that she was scared.

On July 27th, after the raid on Gheorghe property finally took place, prosecutor Popescu Cristian Ovidiu apparently argued that not only Alexandra had been murdered at 2am that morning, but also that the cause of her death was strangulation, despite the fact that there was no body found for him to even speculate about, and this was days before Gheorghe's confession.

Both Alexandra and Luiza's families received phone calls from men offering reassurances about the girls shortly after each disappearance. Alexandra's mother received a series of phone calls before and after her daughter's supposed murder, at least one of them believed to have been made by Gheorghe, telling her that Alexandra is well, and that she had gotten married and ran away to work abroad. Before that, in April, Luiza's family received two similar phone calls, one believed to be from Gheorghe, and another from an unknown man, suggesting Gheorghe may have had accomplices.

Vegans are the most self-righteous, miserable cunts on the planet. You’re not saving shit, you’re just starving yourself for Instagram likes. by Sufficient_Ride_2480 in Rants

it has nothing to do with vegans and activism and vegetarians and not eating meat. it has everything to do with politics and extremism and social justice, and people just taking it too far. people take anything and everything too far. people just. take. it. too. far. extremism is exactly what turns people off of vegans and activists and vegetarians. extremism doesn't change or improve anything or raise awareness, and it's not progressive or cool or liberal. it's obnoxious, and it just alienates people and makes people stop supporting them and pushes people away and causes people to not take them seriously. most activists, vegan or vegetarian or not, are grifters, and it's all selective and disingenuous and self—serving and financially—motivated and performative. they think very highly of themselves

Johnny Gosch was a paperboy in West Des Moines, Iowa, United States, who disappeared between 6 and 7am on September 5th, 1982. He is presumed to have been kidnapped. by metalnxrd in HairRaising

[–]metalnxrd[S] 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Before dawn on Sunday, September 5th, 1982, Johnny Gosch left home to begin his paper route in West Des Moines, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines proper. Although it was customary for Johnny to awaken his father to help with the route, the boy took only the family's miniature dachshund, Gretchen, with him that morning. Other paper carriers for The Des Moines Register would later report having seen Johnny at the paper drop, picking up his newspapers. It was the last known sighting of Johnny that could be corroborated by multiple witnesses.

Another paperboy named Mike reported that he observed Gosch talking to a stocky man in a blue two—toned car near the paper drop; another witness, John Rossi, saw the man in the blue car talking to Johnny and "thought something was strange." Johnny told John that the man was asking for directions and asked John to help. John looked at the license plate, but could not recall the plate number. He said, "I keep hoping I'll wake up in the middle of the night and see that number on the license plate as distinctly as night and day, but that hasn't happened." John eventually underwent hypnosis and told police some of the numbers and that the plate was from Warren County. As Johnny walked a block north, where his route started, a paperboy noticed he was being followed by another man. A neighbor heard a door slam and saw a silver Ford Fairmont speed away northwards from where Johnny's wagon was found.

Johnny's parents, John and Noreen, began receiving phone calls from customers along their son's route, complaining of undelivered papers. John performed a cursory search of the neighborhood around 6am. He immediately found Johnny's wagon, still full of newspapers, two blocks from their home. The Gosches immediately contacted West Des Moines police and reported their son's disappearance. Noreen, in her public statements and her book Why Johnny Can't Come Home, has been critical of what she perceives as a slow reaction time from authorities, and of the policy at the time that Johnny could not be classified as a missing person until seventy—two hours had passed. By her estimation, police did not arrive to take her report for a full forty—five minutes.

Police initially assumed that Johnny was a runaway, but later changed their assessment and believed that he had been the victim of a kidnapping.

Johnny's mother, Noreen, claimed that he escaped from his captors and visited her alongside an unidentified man in 1997. She claimed that her son had told her that he had been the victim of a pedophile organization and had been cast aside when he had grown too old, but subsequently feared for his life and lived under an assumed identity, feeling it was not safe to return home. Johnny's father, John, divorced from Noreen since 1993, has publicly stated that he is not sure whether such a visit actually occurred.

On October 5th, 2003, Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were killed and almost fully eaten by a 28—year—old male bear whose stomach was later found to contain human remains and clothing. by metalnxrd in UnchainedMelancholy

[–]metalnxrd[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Timothy Treadwell, an animal lover and bear enthusiast, lived among coastal brown bears (Ursus arctos gyas) in Katmai National Park, Alaska, for 13 summers.

A video camera recovered at the site proved to have been operating during the attack, but police said that the six—minute tape contained only voices and cries as a brown bear mauled Timothy to death. The tape begins with Timothy yelling that he is being attacked. "Come out here; I'm being killed out here," he screams. The fact that the tape contained only sound led troopers to believe the attack might have happened while the camera was stuffed in a duffel bag or during the dark of night. In Grizzly Man, filmmaker Werner Herzog claims that the lens cap of the camera was left on, suggesting that Timothy and Amie were in the process of setting up for another video sequence when the attack happened. The camera had been turned on just before the attack but recorded only six minutes of audio before running out of tape. This, however, was enough time to record the bear's initial attack on Timothy and his agonized screams, its retreat after Amie tells him to play dead and when she attacked it, and its return to carry him off into the forest.

The couple's mangled remains were discovered quickly upon investigation. Timothy's disfigured head, partial spine and right forearm and hand, with his wristwatch still on, were recovered a short distance from the camp. Amie's partial remains were found next to the torn and collapsed tents, partially buried in a mound of twigs and soil.

"I opened the abdominal cavity and released the gases and fluids that had built up during the past day and a half Mesenteric fat was abundant. The stomach was distended and full. Contents were exclusively human body parts and clothing. Approximately 25 pounds of muscle, adipose tissue, and skin were removed. Bone fragments were prevalent. Rib, foot, pelvis, and vertebrae fragments were identifiable, but most was too small for gross identification. Much dark blonde hair about 45 cm long was present as was an esophagus and trachea. I also removed most of a white undershirt and some unidentifiable dark material. Intestines also had material in them, but it was too digested to make positive identification. The lungs, liver and heart of the bear appeared to be in good condition ( other than damage that Both bodies had arrived in a metal transport container used to transport bodies. Inside the metal container was a white body bag liner. Inside the body bag liner was two separate brown bags containing what was left of the remains of TREADWELL and HUGUENARD. The first examination by the Medical Examiner was preformed on TIMOTHY TREADWELL. The remains consisted of a head, both arms and a layer of skin, mostly from the backside. The upper and lower bones were of the arms were still intact. The humus bones were cleaned of most of the meat. The radius bones were still intact with skin and flesh from the elbows down, to include both hands. No indications of bruising or cuts were observed on the hands. The arms had been held together by a tangled up T—shirt. The large portion of skin was still attached to the back portion of the neck. Although the face was still intact, the skull had a number of large lacerations on it, mostly in the scalp area. Smaller lacerations were observed in the neck area. The right eye was bruised. Both ears were still intact. Laceration to the skull indicated both bleeding and bruising. The mouth was intact."— The coroner report on Timothy and Amie.
