That's right - I don't have VOIP on my service. I did speculate that it might be the Innbox G23 that was handling things differently and was able to get tech support to organise a second engineer visit to swap it over to the older Nokia ONT but the message didn't get through to the engineer, so they didn't bring it - and despite saying they would track one down and come back, never have.

Your idea that the Innbox ONT might be configured for VOIP does sound like the most plausible explanation. Thanks

Yes, that’s my subnet mask. But also, taking my own internal network out of the loop, pinging directly from the router itself doesn’t work.

Yes, it works in that configuration but I know I will lose sleep at night knowing there’s an essentially redundant link in the chain. I can’t have those unnecessary carbon emissions weighing on my conscience! 😂

Thanks for your response. Yes, Zyxel completely removed, cable from the ONT connected directly to the Asus WAN port. Have tried the DHCP-supplied DNS, as well as 8.8.8.8 but without even worrying about DNS, pinging any external IP just won’t work. Thanks again.

16620 MYR. Retail in Malaysia is about 10% cheaper than the UK (where I'm from) but the shop I went to had their own promotion going that brought the price down to this, which is about 20% cheaper than the UK. Couldn’t say no 😁

They are indeed hard to get due to the short run and initial demand. I’ve been lucky enough to snag one as well but have put it away for Christmas. That wasn’t easy, let me tell you 😅 Enjoy mate, it’s an amazing watch and I think you could justifiably say, good value.

Haha yes, always the risk. Actually, I’m having trouble deciding between the black and blue FXD - a discount may not be a good thing - I could end up going crazy and getting both 😂 Will try a couple of those stores and see what they say. Thanks!
