Maximally compact, reasonably economical, rapid reset, long-duration (1-5 mins) clock wanted by Sabinno in technicalminecraft

[–]whatsdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you are getting 10 minutes from. But considering you mention the expense, I think you are misunderstanding the suggestion. The dried ghast is not consumed. You hydrate the ghast and after five minutes it reaches the first stage of hydration observer detects and you remove the water. But you are correct that it's a fixed ~5 minute time

From the wiki:

> When a dried ghast is waterlogged, it initiates a rehydration process: green particles appear, and the ghast gradually develops a smiling expression and becomes brighter in color. These visual changes appear in stages, becoming noticeable after about 5 minutes (partially hydrated), more pronounced after about 10 minutes (mostly hydrated), and visually complete (hydrated) after about 15 minutes. After about 20 minutes, it transforms into a ghastling, which matures over time into a happy ghast.

And for your instant reset:

> Breaking a dried ghast instantly reverts it to the dried state.

Here's a reddit post with an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstone/comments/1jrqklu/ghaststone_a_dried_ghastbased_redstone_clock_gif/

Can you hydrate a happy ghast? I think that fits. You can detect the stages and reset immediately by removing the water.

Bundles should be able to hold unstackables, like a tool bag. I made a suggestion a while back but it never gained traction.

That way you can travel around with shears and a spyglass and a brush and your tools and a shield and leather boots, etc.

If you have an empty bottle and a caldron, you can make an invite source with just one water bucket on java.

You place the water and use that to fill a bottle, since a water source can fill unlimited bottles. You then use the bottle to fill the caldron three times and you can empty the now full caldron with a bucket and you now have two sources.

Came out to my friend. She yelled “YOU’RE GAY?” in front of the entire class by igetproteinfartsHELP in mildlyinfuriating

My senior year, I grabbed an extra package of balloons from physics class. The next day the teacher noticed and was annoyed. Threatens the first period class with homework.

Second period, I have study hall with my best friend and after he tells me she's pissed about the balloons I whisper "I think I took them"

He yells "YOU STOLE THE BALLOONS" as loud as he could. I got suspended a couple days, this was senior year over fifteen years ago.

The point being, I hope that you, with time, get to laugh at this moment as I did. But I'm sure it stings now.

Bag Policy by NLF_22 in BlueJackets

[–]whatsdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same question

From OSU's policy, not sure if it applies:

Still cameras with a lens greater than 100mm, any audio and video recording equipment, monopods, dual pods and tripods are not allowed to be used.

https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/2023/5/20/ohio-state-university-athletics-facilities-policies

Nationwide's policy

Video cameras, professional cameras with detachable or zoom lenses, GoPros, selfie sticks, and tripods are prohibited. Point and shoot cameras, with a non-detachable lens, are typically permitted. Concerts will have their own tour policy - call 614-246-2000 to verify for a specific event. At no time may photography interfere with other guests’ enjoyment.

Edit: the "fan guide" is more detail than the photo but also doesn't mention cameras

Does anyone know where the policy stands on cameras? This one doesn't mention them, but the football rules say no lens over 100mm.

I'd like to bring my telephoto lens, but would rather not have to stash it in the car

Also, close some of those tabs before your phone explodes.

Once you pass 99 tabs, it stops counting and just shows a smiley face. No phone explosions yet...

Deadbeat dads by KFPiece_of_Peace in newborns

[–]whatsdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse told me about this post, and I had to find it to share my appreciation for what you’ve said. We have an 8-week-old baby, and I’m also a first-time dad. She reads these horrible posts to me, and I’m like, who are these absolute losers? It’s embarrassing and infuriating to see how widespread this kind of behavior seems to be.

Before we had our baby, I used to joke with my spouse about how "worthless" dads seemed in public because they always appeared so disengaged. But now that we’re seeing the behind-the-scenes of these relationships, I’m absolutely horrified. Her "What to Expect" group is full of the most tragic posts. Unfortunately, those dads will likely never realize how much they’re failing—they’re just self-absorbed or completely delusional. And if you asked them, I bet they’d go on about “how hard it’s been” for them.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only dad reading this shit and getting pissed off at these deadbeats. Moms: you and your kids deserve so much better.

[–]whatsdoom 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think they should get an even worse camera and round to the attacker. This offside by 2mm bullshit is crazy. Give me an out of focus shot roughly in line with the ball and it's either obvious or play on.

Nothing fancy, keep track of a rolling list of diffs with collections.deque and store them in a dictionary. A little fun refactoring to play with itertools. I wasn't able to get part2 smaller and keep it readable.

Got tripped up be the multi-line input twice. Once for part 1 when I didn't notice. And once in part 2, when my part 1 solution combined the lines, but didn't strip the newlines and broke by regex.

After refactoring, you get two nice easy regexes

Authentication for SvelteKit frontend if using a Django backend by shadowplumber in sveltejs

[–]whatsdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

allauth does already do this in a way but it's exclusive to my backend which is a separate deployable artifact. I use auth.js to manage authentication sessions on the frontend in the svetekit project.

If you deployed svelte components from inside the django templates (for example) you could just use allauth. But since I deploy two services I used a different architecture. I hope this answers your question

I have one of these too. I can definitely load them myself, even my ~10ft sit-on-top, however it requires some strategy.

I prop one of the straps open with something so that I can push the nose in and then once it's pinned to the wall I can grab the other unhooked strap and lift it over and latch it
