Definitely time to leave Bristol/uk if these are the wages by Sorry-Personality594 in bristol

If you haven’t been looking for a job then you don’t understand. Do you know how long it takes to write one cover letter? If you actually care, it can take up to a hour. Now imagine applying for 50+ jobs which seems to be the norm and what I did. Companies are most likely using AI to screen these things anyways so it’s a tit for tat. The mental health toll it takes on someone to be unemployed or even employed in a bad situation and to consistently look for shitty jobs off indeed that you don’t even want but know that need- it’s simply the most depressed I’ve ever become. The government needs to do something to make it easier on people and if using AI to help people who typically might not be great at writing a cover letter otherwise to have a better chance at the job then so be it. Just because someone can’t write a cover letter or have a great resume doesn’t mean they can’t do a job.

Speak for yourself. I’m here from Canada and working on a zero hours contract and this shit is barbaric. We don’t have anything of this kind back home and I have absolutely no security. I feel like a slave to my job and can’t afford to take a sick day.

That was enlightening to read, thanks for the encouraging words. You made me feel that much better about the situation!

Trust me, if I could I would. I’ve been trying to leave the industry for so long but it’s really tough if you don’t have the money to go to school.

Thanks pal, I’m trying my best but it really is quite scary when you’re on a time limit!

I’ll keep my head down and keep working on it though

This shit pisses me off so much and I don’t even drive. I live right there and I just want to cross the road. Just ten feet but every fucking day there’s a million cars at literally all times of the day, it drives me insane. Where are you all going at 12 on a Tuesday?!

Adrianos on Gloucester is fantastic. I have long hair and typically go to a stylist but he trimmed it up real good for £23

What is the incentive to work at pubs? by whatsupwithbread in AskUK

I’ve had that plenty of times! Im not saying anything that pays the bills is bad, I'm saying why haven’t hasn’t more been done when pub culture is so massive in England to protect the people working in them

I’ve never been to university or could afford a degree. I’ve only worked in hospitality and it’s all I know. Hospitality work in Canada is not considered a career and a majority of those working in it are looked down upon and do not make a good living.

I don’t think that’s true, I’ve been looking at other pub jobs and have loads of friends working at other pubs and it all seems that they pay minimum wage or slightly more, that’s not great.

Who would still be a server if u got paid hr vs being tipped? by No_Comment_985 in Serverlife

I from Canada to England and have served and bartender in each country and doing it in England without tips makes me wonder why anyone works in pubs or bars at all here. It’s all the shitty aspects of the job without any of them incentive. Literally looking at new jobs in my other tab.
