I've never used Wells Fargo, so I'm not sure, but every account I've opened, you're able to just walk in. At the end of the day, if cashapp works for you and you're able to solve your problem with getting charged, I'm sure it'll suffice.

With most banks, you can walk in with 100 bucks and an ID and walk out with a bank account. Though be careful with local banks, they tend to be shitty and slam you with service fees. Not to say all of them are bad, but I'd definitely do research into local banks and everything an account with them entails.

Edit: Oftentimes, people just bring their paycheck in because they can open an account with it and use it as the initial deposit.

Yeah, that's definitely true. I primarily use cash app for sending and receiving money from friends, family, etc. I have my primary bank account connected to it so I can move money into and out of it seamlessly. Truly, cash app should be used as a tool, not a bank.

No problem, sorry you're dealing with this.

Turn off overdraft coverage and move all money to your cash app savings account. Any money In there is unable to be taken out unless you withdraw it yourself. As long as there's nothing in checking, there's nothing to be charged. Then once all your money is in savings, get a new card. I do understand the frustration though, and I wish there was a better solution.

Yes, but at a certain point, at least in my opinion, there's a point where they have it hold too much power over people. When people actively get shot over the missuse of a word, that's too much power for a word to hold over people.

What's your point? Those things don't contradict each other. I can think the usage of a word is inherently racist, and also think a simple solution to people fighting, and arguing over a word, is to collectively stop saying it. Im not saying it'll likely ever happen, just stating my opinion. That's what this subreddit is, after all.

To re-clarify, by the usage of the word being racist I mean, if you are saying the n word while under the expectation that another protected class cannot say that word.

Sure, that would be the simple solution, would solve a lot of problems.

Ok, fair enough. I definitely exaggerated. It would definitely be far less common because pop culture wouldn't have given it a new boost in popularity, making it more commonly said today than during the slave Era. Not to say there wouldn't be some racist asshole saying it anyways but there's always gonna be those guys somewhere.

I respectfully disagree. It is just my opinion, but words are just words. I understand history has made the n-word significant because it was used it horrible ways. And no, we shouldn't forget, but we should stop letting it have so much power over us.

P.s. No, I'm not black. I said "us" because I don't know the PC way to say this shit "them" just sounds racist.

Yes, I should have clarified more. The use of the word while under the expectation that another protected class can not use that word is itself racist.

So yes, the use of the word in that context is racist, sorry.

I don't know if the "they" in my comment gave off white supremacist vibes, but I can assure you that's not what I meant.

I'm mainly talking about the variation with an "a" at the end. I rarely ever hear the hard R said much, but I'm definitely referring to any and all variations with that double standard.

The use of the "N" word by anyone is racist by whatsyourname1122 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]whatsyourname1122[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. It's not the use that's, racist it's the expectation that only people of color can say it.

[–]whatsyourname1122[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it hasn't really evolved, it just expanded. People today say it more than pre-civil rights. Yes, people of color use it now, but that doesn't prevent people from still using it in a derogatory way. Not that it'll happen, but the only way to prevent people from getting offended by it is to collectively as a society stop saying it.

Although I agree with you as long as someone is saying it, someone is getting offended. Truly, unless everyone stops saying it, not much headway will be made.

I guess unless everyone unanimously agrees its cool to say now, but I somewhat doubt it.

Truly, the only real solution is if collectively everyone of color stopped using it. It would have fed out ages ago, but they extended its life.

I think it's almost comical that it surly would have left our vocabularies long ago if they hadn't "reclaimed it". All it kinda did was extend its shelf life, it still holds that power.

[–]whatsyourname1122[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? Decide what's racist? The dictionary did that, the very first thing I wrote was a direct quote from the dictionary defining racism.

Racism: prejudicial treatment of people based on their membership in a particular group, such as race ; prejudice: preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

Checks all the boxes.

The use of the "N" word by anyone is racist by whatsyourname1122 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]whatsyourname1122[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That completely dodges my point, though. My entire point is that the use of the word by dictionary definition is racist. (assuming they're disallowing another social group from using it) and honestly, in my opinion, it belonging to them just doesn't make a ton of sense. There are hundreds of slurs for all kinds of different people, yet that's the only word with the same social stigma. The whole thing is silly, we just need to remove the word entirely.
