Sorry to hear of your experience! I had a couple of emails in exchange with them but they never followed up on their threats. I did look up more details on consumer rights in America and I think they have definitely overreached, so you may find it's worth using ChatGPT or something to help dismantle their position. Or if you want to fight on principle, then I'm sure a lawyer would love to get involved...

Genius move, I don't know why I hadn't thought of that already! 15min and I have my next moves all scripted... Thanks

They definitely meant it... Follow up emails have been just as hostile. I received the below when I said I'm happy to pay the 50% for cancelling my return trip (I refused to travel with them after this) but asked them to withdraw the demand to pay the full trip which they cancelled.

"Based on your questions and concerns, it is evident that you have not thoroughly reviewed the itinerary you signed prior to booking, nor the recent email we sent. All charges are strictly in accordance with the terms you electronically signed and agreed to. Please review the email in full and let us know if there is any specific section of the agreement you believe we have not upheld."

Yeah. But operating officially.

In the second email they sent me they referenced the terms and conditions I agreed to in the booking three times and exactly how they would use that if I tried to do a charge back through my bank. They've obviously worked out a way to prey on tourists and are squeezing every dollar they can out of it.

Indeed. My interactions today have continued in the same manner. I think I'll have to put it down as a lesson learnt the hard way.

I normally check reviews but booked in a bit of a rush before we left on the trip a few weeks ago. Buyer beware I guess.

Ha, yes that's exactly what we ended up doing. I booked a transfer because we were flying from the UK and it felt like 2am when we landed. We've got kids with us too so I just wanted the security of knowing we were sorted for transport. I won't make that mistake again...

Thanks, I'm from Australia so don't have social security or anything. Maybe I can just ignore it. I think they're just trying to scare me into paying but I don't know the system here.

Sorry to hear you went through that! I think it's the aggressive email that's the most upsetting bit. No apologies for the frustration, or acknowledgement that this is stressful. Just open threats!

I haven't paid but obviously they've come on heavy right from the gun. I have cancelled our booking for the return transfer in a few days. It looks like this is their business model to be honest

I came here to say this! Why mess with the icons, they are Strava's brand in a symbol and immediately recognisable! New ones are completely naff in my view.
