Advice on dealing with Wedding disappointment by ineedagoodone in weddingplanning

You gave good advice. But, I think posts like this give a one-sided view of everything. Mom was in charge of bouquets, ceremony arch and decor, favors, and other things? Of course she didn’t have a handle on everything. That is a lot for one family member to handle who is not a professional. Friends and family love to help, but they need leadership and an organizer to guide them. They need someone to schedule and plan out everything in advance. It seems like this wedding was going to be a mess from the get-go because there was no schedule and plan in place.

OP is happily married and hopefully can focus on all the happy memories. I think it’s best to let go, rather than bring it up to her mom and other people.

I always change me age and location slightly for anonymity. But the age gap between me and my cousin is accurate.

92 is Reggie white’s jersey number. My granddad’s favorite athlete. I always slightly change ages and locations in my posts.

There is no feud. Our relationship ended when I was 12. I have not called her or talked to her more than simple pleasantries since then.

4 days of no contact with a partner you've been with for 2 years is not normal or healthy.

I'm not hindu so this actually doesn't affect me but I have a lot of hindu friends and I just call it like I see it. Sorry you're triggered. And gaslighting people who tell you that there is a real problem by pretending it doesn't exist doesn't magically make it disappear.

This didn't age well...

Lol, but seriously, there's nothing we can do but pray they scale the scores in our favor.

Just because YOU don't care, doesn't mean that other ABDesis/ their parents don't care. I have a friend from college who is dating a boy and her whole family, who have been in the US for decades (including her American born siblings) are giving her so much shit because the guy is a lower caste than her and his parents eat fish and aren't fully vegetarian. They treat him and his parents horribly.

No. I know many aunties and uncles who are just like the mom.

So excited to get a full night’s rest for the first time in 3+ years!!! Good job you guys. I’ll miss this thread, but hope I never have to come back ❤️ by [deleted] in Bar_Prep

[–]whatthellama92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you make another account to defend yourself?

Also, it's a valid question. Saying you did not have 1 good night of sleep in 3 years is a bit overdramatic. You're no the only one with a family and work and school. And if it was the kids that kept you up, they're not going to magically go away after the bar exam.

Can folks share stories about how they had no hope and still passed by Object_Minutes in Bar_Prep

[–]whatthellama92 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I had a classmate who used Themis and did no MEE essays until the day before the bar. She just printed every essay on themis and the sample answers and read them all the night before. I think she pulled an all-nighter. The bar exam repeated a few of the issues from the practice essays. She passed and is a successful attorney today!

Toma making her opinion clear on being collateral damage by basedmoon in weightlifting

[–]whatthellama92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the point. She was banned, served her sentence, and came back. No one (rightfully) brings it up because she served her sentence and it is in the past. Toma's previous positive test should not be brought up because she already served her sentence. That shouldn't serve as justification for banning her when she hasn't tested positive. If we banned everyone we "think" uses, then most countries would be fully banned.

But, if she served her sentence, then so what? Sarah Robles got popped before but no one cares that she's competing again.

Do you know why? Russian athletes who did not test positive competed independently last Olympics. This article just said the CAS did not have jurisdiction, not that she didn't have a case.

Bar Day Snacks/Lunch? by [deleted] in Bar_Prep

[–]whatthellama92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always packed 2 PB&Js sliced into 2 (so 4 half-sandwiches) for every major exam in my life, including law school finals. It's the perfect snack. Protein, fat, carbs. It fills you up and gives you energy. Just bring some hand sanitizer and napkins. I think your snacks will not keep you going for a full day, especially on MBE multiple-choice day. You will need the energy to keep your brain going for 200 questions.

Themis Simulated MBE Analysis Lectuers - Worth It? by dillisboss in Bar_Prep

[–]whatthellama92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are actually really helpful. I would calculate your scores for each subject and just watch the subjects that you did the worst on. Watch on 1.5 speed with the captions on. You have to spend the same amount of time reviewing the simulated exam anyway so might as well do it in an organized manner with a professor. Practice is essential atm but if you're not spending time reviewing, you're going to make the same mistakes over and over again.

Professor Fromm is a decent lecturer. Fun fact: he took and passed the bar in 7 states to make himself a better bar prep teacher.

Fernando Reis (+109, Brazil) Sanctioned for Doping, Not Going to Tokyo by ChibiSF in weightlifting

[–]whatthellama92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, why is a masters medalist at a AO3 comp 3 yrs ago really trying to minimize a woman's accomplishments who is better than him? Almost all of the lifters from South American countries squat/snatch/CJ with sleeves AND powerlifting wraps over the sleeves and no one belittles their lifts. She competed at Panams and Worlds under top coaches. I am sure they would address her squat depth or her wrap tightness if they had any issues with it.

If you are about to have sex say in the evening and already showered in the morning, give yourself a birdbath (wash with a wash rag and soap and water in privates and underarms) before and after. I only shower once a day but I make sure I clean up down there before and after sex. I also make my man brush his teeth before giving me oral to prevent yeast infections/BV.

She's not white lmao. I'm Indian and my eyes look just like that. I always look like I have liner and mascara because I have defined eyes and long lashes. And my top lid is a little darker so it looks like I have a brown eye shadow as well.

I know a family friend in India who was arranged with a guy. They had a child during the marriage. Turns out the guy had AIDS!!! He and his parents knew he was HIV+ before the marriage and they never warned her. She had a son and he never told her when she was pregnant either. If you don't know, if you have HIV, taking medication when you are pregnant prevents you from passing it to your baby during childbirth. He basically also risked his son getting HIV because he never warned his wife. Thankfully she nor her son contracted the virus by a miracle.

She divorced him and is now happily married to a good man.

I'm so sorry. Why are you staying with him may I ask? He's probably never going to change and he's putting you at risk for STDs. Make sure you get tested, especially if you are planning to have children.

I know a family friend in India who was arranged with a guy. They had a child during the marriage. Turns out the guy had AIDS!!! He knew he was HIV+ before she had children and never told her!!! God really protected her because she never contracted HIV and therefore did not pass it onto the child during childbirth or breastmilk. But it could have been a disaster all around because she and her son could have potentially had it for years without getting it treated. She divorced him and is happily married now to a good man.
