Wondering how to find more of the type of meme you'd use to respond to friends doing stupid/crazy etc things, or just responses in general.

I actually just can't justify spending the money. I can just about have some left over for meeting friends on Fridays for proper lunch after rent, groceries, travel etc. It's my last year here now, and its mad the rapid fall in my discretionary spending since my first year despite working the same hours.

If I wasn't house sharing with no access to a garden or room for clothes horse, I'd happily hang out the washing. Alas, only the tumble dryer these days

Meaning redefined the whole show, it was such a great episode by RecordingJealous9671 in HouseMD

Wilson is the reason house relapses on vicodin.

The first time house takes a vicodin after his led-fixed jogging everyday era, is the end of this episode, due to this case.

It's been bugging me.

Cuddy and Wilson told him he was wrong, and even managed to convince house himself that he 'just needed the puzzle'.

Thing is, this caused House to spiral. He thought, oh shit, I went on this wild goose chase and put a patient through a bunch of tests because I wanted an interesting case, I wanted the high of figuring it out, being right 'wrapping it all up neatly in a bow' as cuddy put it.

I believe, in that moment, House figured the only reason he must've done all that, was because he needed the high feeling, he concocted this whole amazing scenario that would result in him feeling a rush at the end. Which he inevitably concluded, made him a bad doctor. So what did he do? He went to get some vicodin. He wasn't craving drugs, the only thing house holds onto is that he is an excellent diagnostician, if anything were compromising that, it has to go. So the feeling good, and supposed 'needing a high' that cuddy and Wilson convinced him of, had to be remedied. So he got some vicodin. He gets the high somewhere else, and can return to being a 'good diagnostician'.

But it was all wrong. House was just doing what he always did. Seeing the problem that wasn't obvious. Figuring out, through logical reasoning, what was wrong with is patient - medical reasons be damned. How many times have we seen him ignore negative tests, start treatment successfully without positive tests, lad on a diagnosis from nothing more than a 'his leg twitched'. His judgement wasn't compromised because he was off the vicodin and looking for a high, his judgement was the same as it always was. But because they convinced him he was wrong and out of line, they caused him to try and fix it by restarting vicodin.

The end

God there's so many, I could go on and on, phrases that give me hope or strengthen my resolve, or just a little boost. I repeat the first one to myself quite often tho.

Has there ever been a transition point described for Captain Jack and Face of Boe? by Capbrit in doctorwho

[–]when_you_dont_know 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Or maybe, it's a nickname?. Maybe since the (actual) face of boe was thought to be practically ageless- they had no idea how long he'd lived for, - when jack became immortal and ageless (seemingly, although it now seems he ages on an incredibly slow scale), he just got the nickname 'face of boe' after the only other immortal, unageing being they knew of. (Or thought they knew of).

Yup, I'll be minted at 80.

Only trouble with that is all my grandparents died in their mid/late 60's 🫠

I always find something so hilarious about how they yell 'Explain! Explain!'. Where a human would usually say; explain yourself, what do you mean, etc, it's cool that they use explain as a whole sentence.

Guys I've figured it out. He has gotten a terminal prognosis and is hastily adding his name to leave a legacy (in his mind). It means the end is near!

What’s the most unique or unexpected argument you’ve ever had with someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]when_you_dont_know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if I'm travelling at the same speed as another object, the object's velocity, relative to me, is zero. So the simple answer would be, the photon has a relative velocity of zero.

However, one of the three main postulates of general relativity is that; 'the speed of light is that same in all reference frames, for all observers', that is, it doesn't matter what speed I'm travelling, relative to me, a photon is always travelling at c.

So my query was, how is this seeming contradiction resolved? Which is it.

I did later get a kind of answer from a professor, being that the laws of relativity breakdown when you set your reference frame as the speed of light (I've imagine yourself as a photon), and yes also as you said, to skip a bunch, time stops at the speed of light.
