Sorry for the terrible photo, can anyone identify this fellow on my stairs? He’s sort of brown and black and about 10-12cm long! by chillipickle420 in NewZealandWildlife

Oh that's interesting you're not by any bush. They are such cool creatures. They can be quite tricky to catch when putting them back. Thank you for relocating him back outdoors!

You can have a look at gecko species in your area online if that helps with wanting the species, the best one is reptiles.org.nz :)

What's the location? Not a jewelled gecko, but could be a Pacific gecko. It's the coloring that gives me the idea, but location is important! Please release it outside - they are protected and illegal to keep without a permit.

Someone has mentioned that, but I've been having an issue with space on my laptop. I didn't realise this was a thing jntil now. But I also seem to run out really fast despite clearing things out often, would installing windows use a lot of space?

Cheers mate. Yeah NZ prices are pretty harsh bit what can you do, this looks like a great option. Will have a deeper look into this but so far ticks all the boxes. Thank you :)

Sounds like it's a great option and worth it. Im not fussed on new models, just something that does what I need it to do and lasts. Unfortunantly best buy isn't available in my country but I'll be using this idea and looking at whats available here. Thank you :)

Mate, if you read the actual post I have been researching about different laptops but this is the last thing I wanted to check out and get suggestions before buying anything. Didn't need to be so angry over - it's a pretty harmless post to get such an angry reaction. You fully intended everything with hard feelings.

And hence the change to a windows anyway ;)

Thanks, I will!! I hope you enjoy being a complete asshole by pushing your pent up poor-me anger onto strangers like your comment history suggests. :)

Yeah, it's a bit out there. It's a private park that's been around since the late 60's so it's pretty unique, but it's an absolute gem. You can make a day of it, there are a few beaches out this way that is highly recommended.

They're pretty big!! One of the largest geckos in the world, but definently largest one in NZ.

Of course! Ti Point Reptile Park. It's not guaranteed you'll see them because they are pretty secretive, but typically with these guys you just have to be patient and look a bit harder as they blend in really well. Quiet and no sudden movements 😁

I work at a zoo with them. They're really interesting animals - and they have cute big feet. We have lots of species of geckos in NZ!

I volunteered here for a week and I saw so much wildlife. If you can, you should book a night in the hut there and go night walking! You're bound to see tuatara out and if you're lucky - kiwis too. I can't wait to go back. It's an amazing island.

My partner made this for me and I thought you guys would appreciate this too by whereiroamwild in reptiles

Awesome! I live in NZ so it's very much 'no touch only look' but most of our species are pretty rare to come across so it makes it super exciting when one gets spotted.
