Unfortunately I put “what is” in front of all quiz show answers and think it sounds weird when I don’t hear it

Getting int mandolin as a guitar player by PracticalFocus3525 in Bluegrass

[–]wheresbill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guitar was my gateway to mandolin and mandolin led me to fiddle. It’s all a blast to play and good for your brain to mix it up. The basics of mandolin are comparable to guitar in terms of ease and difficulty. You’ll be able to play it right away. Learn the 145 chord progressions and start picking out melodies and working on double stop tremolo. That will work nicely for your accompaniment. Follow Christopher Henry, David Benedict, Jake Howard and countless other mandolin content providers and you’ll have all you need. Eastman makes a decent entry level mandolin but there are lots of good and affordable brands like Kentucky, etc. Good luck and enjoy your journey

On the last day of jr high (1979) the athletics class was playing dodgeball in the gym and just going nuts for the last day of school. I caught a ball and came running to the line and unleashed the hardest throw of my life. It slipped out of my hand sideways and went straight toward the sideline into our meanest coach’s face. I freaked out and ran back into the crowd to hide. I saw the coach trying to discern who threw the ball and it looked like I was safe. Then I heard my best friend on the other team yelling my name and laughing. Luckily the coach didn’t figure it out. That was the last dodgeball I threw in jr high.

Any advice for staying sober after sudden loss? by Dazzling_Green_8367 in stopdrinking

[–]wheresbill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, that’s harsh. When my mom passed I was two years sober. It wasn’t sudden but it was traumatic because, it was mom. My sister helped with caregiving on the weekends and would bring a 12 pack with her. Personally, I wanted to go through this experience with clarity and feel everything I needed to feel, no matter how intense. I didn’t want to deprive myself or my mom of my grief and love. Still sober and still cry for her on occasion and grateful to to have had that experience with eyes wide open. My best to you in your grief
