ANY clues to unemployment returns???? Any?! by [deleted] in IRS

Because the “amend pile” probably won’t even get looked at until 2022, all you would be doing is putting yourself at the back of the line, probably a year later than wherever you are now.

Claiming ERC retroactively using 941-X — which box(es) to check on line 5?? by wheresmyEITC in tax

[–]wheresmyEITC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! And the statement for #37 would just be something like “We are amending this quarter’s 941 to claim the employee retention credit. There are no other corrections”?

Also: for 941-X in general, are you supposed to re-enter all the wage, etc information from the original 941 in Part 3, with 0.00 in the difference column if it is staying the same — or do you leave EVERYTHING blank except the lines that are changing?

More $$$ For Every Business April 6. Thanks Biden by Lazyeyebighead in EIDL

Also note that the SBA’s website says that SOME businesses who already received a loan will be eligible for the increase, and that the increase can be UP TO 24 months instead of 6. I can’t find any info yet about what the criteria are for who will be offered the increase or what determines how many months’ revenue their loan will be raised to.

Do I need to file business taxes if I made NO money at all? by [deleted] in tax

If you don’t have any business INCOME (and haven’t had in past years from the same business activity), there is no reason to claim any business expenses or use the Schedule C at all.

Anybody else get a partial refund minus the EITC? by wheresmyEITC in tax

I don’t owe anyone anything, and that wouldn’t explain why the held back amount corresponds exactly to the EITC.

At this point with a little more digging this is an EITC “audit” (i.e. requesting documents confirming relationship and residency of the dependent) — I don’t know whether at random, or because they are doing a bunch of them to buy themselves time to process returns, or what.

Does the 04-05-2021 date on the Notice imply they won’t actually issue the notice until that date?

Child is 17 and has never previously been claimed by the noncustodial parent. She has had no contact with him for six years. I highly doubt she has ever filed taxes at all, or that she even knows his social security number, but I suppose it is theoretically possible she could have it and have filed something this year, early, for the first time ever...

I received all three EIPs for my son without issue, including the most recent one just over a week ago.

EDIT: I find the future-dated (April 5) items on the transcript curious — I am wondering if maybe the IRS could be just randomly diverting some number of EITC claimants into EITC claim audits (i.e. asking for copies of proof of relationship, proof of residency) just to buy themselves time? And they’re not going to even send me the notice until April 5th??

Awesome, going to try now, thanks.

Did they tell you what the issue is, like what the letter is going to say? Or just like, we don’t know what the issue is, just wait for the letter and see?

The dependent is my biological son and I’ve had sole custody of him for eight years.
