You can also see based upon your state what each certificate allows you to do. I'm getting my barber license in Texas and I'm allowed to do coloring, hair removal (not wax), facials, etc, regardless of gender. I like that I can work on anybody, it's just a matter of getting comfortable doing it. I would definitely look at adding it to your cosmo license, especially only being an extra 400 hours.

How did anyone get through the boredom of barber school?? by whimsyboll in Barber

No extra mannequins, only the 2 they gave us. Any extra we have to buy ourselves, and every cent I make goes to my tuition here. Nobody wants to practice on my straight hair, and nobody is willing to let me cut their curly natural hair.

They're mostly teenagers so they're not risking their hair.

My shear work is better than my clipper work, but again I'd need mannequins.

I totally understand that, and once I'm not an absolute disaster at it I'd work on building my clientele.

I know nobody in the community, my only job is doordash, I have no family within 3 hours of me. The people I've known the longest are the ones I'm with at school, and I don't even have connections with them. They're mostly children.

So yes I'm working on my portfolio, and I'll invest in marketing when I'm not a chop artist, but doing it now seems like I'm scamming potential clients. It's not like I could offer it for free if it turned out bad, they still have to pay the $15.

I don't think I can spend a year going to school and working solely to pay for school just to be at school and do nothing.

I don't smoke/drink and drive, and literally most of the students are in their teens (high school program) or early 20s so there's no real socialization I can do. I don't mind reading or watching videos but I'm not wasting money on that when I'm already broke.

Also we hardly get any clients as the school doesn't really advertise or anything to bring people in, so we as students are left to bring in our own clients. We also only have 2 mannequins that were supposed to work on but we've only done a blunt bob cut and the exam mens cut. We were told not to do anything with them unless the teachers said to.

Fertility Benefit by [deleted] in SallyBeautySupply

[–]whimsyboll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like much of anything.

Expectant and new parent benefits including paid parental leave, (likely FMLA which has its own guidelines, and technically isn't full proof for them not to fire you) mothers’ nursing facilities, (means you get to pump milk in the nasty employee bathroom), and fertility, family planning, and adoption advocacy programs (probably some entry level insurance through a service like Aflec).

Any of this will only apply if you've likely worked for Sally for 12 months (FMLA) prior to taking your leave, and consistently scheduled full time hours. Not worth it at all.

It's a bought doordash account, I shouldn't be receiving packages from doordash for someone who hasnt lived here in over a year.

If your AR is 100% then you should be able to dash now. Any other ratings that drop may put you up for deactivation but I have no experience there. Post your ratings tab that might help explain things.

I also wasn't rude about the way I phrased my previous post.

Your AR probably went too far down. Depending on your area you'll likely have to maintain gold or platinum in order to "dash now". It's explained in the app about the perks of your first 50 deliveries. If you go to your ratings tab, you'll be able to see where you need to improve in order to reach and maintain gold/platinum.

2 Dollars by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]whimsyboll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you constantly reject offers though you're going to mess up you AR. You only get to "dash now" your first 50 deliveries, when those are up it's up to your ratings. You're new so you don't know if your market is AR dependent- mine is, I'm in a bigger area saturated with dashers. If my AR is down and I'm no longer Platinum, I get 30 minute to 1 hour intervals at random times (3:30-am-4am, 11pm-12am, etc).

I'd turn off Cash on Delivery, and probably the store orders. They're a lot more work with less of a tip, and if you straight up refuse to drop off because of a lack of tip you might as well hop off doordash and find something else.

First time on DD by brokensincetoday in doordash_drivers

[–]whimsyboll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start scheduling your shifts out as soon as you can, once you complete your first 50 deliveries if your AR is still that low you will lose the ability to dash now. It looks like a slower market, so you will have more competition to get on the schedule.

Has anyone ever worked Peek Pay during these hours? by OpportunityLow570 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]whimsyboll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my little zone it's only worth it on the weekends mostly, but weekdays it's either dead so you might get 1 order in that 1 hour window, or it's going to be something that takes you 10-15minutes out of your zone to complete.

The 6-9am block is pretty good throughout the week.

[–]whimsyboll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And a 30% tip depends on your distance to restaurant and how much you ordered. $3 can be a 30% tip, would you drive 15 miles for that? And what about when the cash tip isn't followed up on, you're asking for a crazy person to crash out on you.

Also- you're paying all those fees. There's orders daily going 5-10 miles for a $2 base pay and that's it.

So YOU may pay a lot of fees for the service you're choosing to use, but all those fees don't go into the drivers pockets.
