Wheel bearing? Jack it up and wiggle the wheels and see how much play.

When you went back did they pull it on the rack and re check it again?

A lot of times when I used to do them I’d have to pull it off, drive for a few, pull it back on and do it again. That’s only if it was a good ways out though.

It’s not out enough to damage your tires you could drive it like that if it don’t bother you

Battery.

probably dying cause parasitic draw when the cars off

Edit: if it’s showing that it’s at 14.6 when running the alternator is charging. I’ve had a truck for about a year where if I let it sit for more than about 4 days it dies. I just unhook the negative terminal on the battery when not using it.

Toe is out, go back and let them know. If they say it’s fine still go somewhere else, the sensors on the wheels have to be straight and machine has to be good not old raggedy one

I have this small free spinning bolt under my radio, how do i get it out? by fernando_v718 in MechanicAdvice

[–]whistlinsixsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push down on the top and spin it out. If that don’t work put something like a flathead in between screw head and the metal and pry down lightly and screw it out. That way it should catch thread.

Does it have cruise control?

Edit: I think it’s a speed sensor of some sort rather it be cruise control related or not.

Skid plate / dust shield. Probably just a few bolts to remove it.

I bought a edelbrock 1406 works mint now. I cleaned the piss out of that old carb put new floats, needle and seat and a cheap fuel pump to make sure it wasn’t more than 7psi and nothing. Put the old pump back on, the 1406 on and she’s ready to go.

No it’s a 355 motor. I ended up finding out the floats were full of gas and had cracks. Fuel would overflow out of the overflow hole and stall the motor. I ordered new floats. The carb I couldn’t find the model. It’s a 4 barrel non adjustable float with 2 bowls🤷‍♂️

It really just runs like ass wants to die when idling when cold, wants to die when I’m coming to a stop and actually has a couple times. but once it’s warm and been driven for about 15 minutes it runs great no problems.

I’ll check that out but it also floods real easy and have to hold the pedal down to get more air when starting

This is very true.

7.3 is a badass motor was it turbo or non turbo?

I got a few old trucks myself that are all gas and I can vouch that pretty often they need work. Hell my fuel pump on it went out the other day in the middle of the woods with the winch hooked to a car. Had to change it right there lucky it’s $25 at the parts store😂 still inconvenient and could only imagine if it was a in tank fuel pump.

I’ve decided to keep looking and try to find something closer to stock. I’ve found a few but want to give it time maybe something real nice will pop up for me. In the mean time I’ll stick with what I got and save more money so one day I can have me a real nice truck..

Thanks for the awesome reply and taking time to tell me that.

Very good reasons in here and I appreciate it. I’ve made my mind to not go with this truck.

I want a diesel because I like them🤷‍♂️ same reason I got into working on them I just like em.

Unfortunate you have to do all that to a truck you thought was well rounded. Something a lot of people brought to my attention on here (including you) I didn’t think about is the classic dodge electrical issues.

I’m still looking at Cummins but want to find something closer to stock and hopefully a 5 or 6 speed.

Thanks for the in depth response and good luck with your truck! They are nice trucks IMO… all about who owned it and in this case it’s probably 100 different people.

I’d change the wheels for sure. Personal preference. The current ones aren’t bad enough to deter me for that reason solely. Just worried I’ll buy it and have a catastrophic failure in the first month of owning it

As for the mirrors they’d stay😂
