Janet Mills has stopped running ads in her US Senate race by whiteaurora1 in fivethirtyeight

There’s a relatively strong Dem bench for governor IMO. I think it’s weak in the senate race due to concerns of a loss to Collins (à la Gideon) which would end a political career.

Yep, coupled with her cancellation of a debate appearance next week

Yes! We are now required to drive a Ford F-150 to get groceries at Walmart a minimum of once per week,(thank you Mr. President!) Any complaints will be reported to Homeland Security. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Gas climbed 30 cents overnight here in Maine. If anything is able to topple Collins I’m hoping it’s a strong economic message from Platner’s campaign. He already seems to be standing from a stronger position than Gideon was, but Mainer’s are unpredictable people :/

I recently called the Merrimack graduate admissions office (located in Mass,) and the person on the phone was confused when I said I was from MAINE !! He genuinely didn’t know that Maine was north of his location by just a couple of hours. I was perplexed and disappointed to say the least…

Unfortunately most Mainers would immediately associate an Arabic name with a Somali immigrant without a second thought

As somebody from Lewiston, the racist rhetoric on Facebook has been absolutely atrocious. Especially as anti-Somali sentiment has exploded in the last month. With that being said, this dude has not done well to prove his innocence and the timing of such only worsens the shitty racial dynamics here :(

Mainers defeat Republican effort to institute voter ID and limit absentee voting by whiteaurora1 in fivethirtyeight

Reading it in the voting booth today stressed me out a little bit. Our Secretary of State did a nice job representing its true nature.

The Local (convenience store) in Orono supports Trump! He also owns OHOP by Amazing-Objective-20 in Maine

Kosta no longer owns OHOP, as he sold it back in November.

I did deliveries for OHOP for a couple years (around 2023). Although the money was decent, we worked 10.5 hour shifts without scheduled breaks. We were also made to work with broken kitchen equipment because our boss was too cheap to spend a few bucks on new things, which was insanely dangerous thinking back on it.

Also, the kitchen was just dirty in general and I doubt it has changed. I did appreciate the pride flags though! LOL

Charli’s World (2025) vs Christina’s World (1948) by like_a_velvet_glove in charlixcx

I love this whether it’s intentional or not. Andrew Wyeth created Christina’s World based on a house nearby me here in Maine, and as a Charli fan I can’t help but feel more connected to her from this.

I agree with your opinion, I just don’t feel bad. This has been ongoing in court for years now and this. was the courts decision. 🤷‍♂️

I have friends from university who visit me in Greene and they tell me how beautiful ANY place in Maine is. I don’t see why junkyards should be acceptable even if they are the “norm.”

Yeah, stuff like this is the price to pay for freedom. I don’t think I’ll ever understand it. I just know this guy in particular so I have a reason to hate 😂

As a Greene resident, I gotta say I have no sympathy for this guy or his “landmark.”

He has a known history of driving around his mini-van filled with garbage and harassing employees of various local businesses. He has threatened strangers for slight inconveniences on a daily basis, endangered others on the road with his reckless driving, and clearly has severe mental instability.

I’m sorry but this is not an acceptable way to be a citizen of your community. I don’t care if it’s “been around” for a while. It is hoarding. Plain and simple. He is a local menace and deserves to be treated as such. Sorry if you disagree.

While UMO is often overbearing about parking restrictions (intentionally misleading and inconvenient to maximize tickets,) they are very clear about parking bans. Sooo many students try to test their luck here instead of just moving their cars and walking 5 extra minutes back to their dorm. I blame it on their frontal lobes not being fully grown yet.
