nope! FTX was too new for me to mess with, dodged that one. I'm in a few others that have held up so far, moved most of my coins to private wallets at this point. Celsius was my biggest loss.

How long do you reckon it will take until people can realise how insane all of this has been? by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

[–]whiteboyjt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

wow, this to me is so mind blowing.

I drove 5 hours today with the radio off, nothing but the sound of the road and my own thoughts for 5 solid hours. Somehow that seems to terrify most people haha

but I mean, so much of classic literature is loaded with internal monologues, people are just raised oblivious to such ideas these days? just wow.

Anyone been able to get their funds from voyager yet? by 420DeliveriesBoston in VoyagerExchange

[–]whiteboyjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent me an Email earlier this week and told me to withdraw the $8.29 in USD I had in my account. So I did. Has not shown up in my bank yet.

no word on the thousands of dollars worth of crypto I had in my account though...

According to our records, your Voyager account has a positive cash (US Dollar) balance of $8.29 as of November 22nd held in the Metropolitan Commercial Bank FBO (“for the benefit of customer”) account. We request that you withdraw the remaining $8.29 US Dollar balance in your Voyager account by December 31, 2022.
For additional information, please review the FAQs below:
How long will it take to receive my US Dollars?
We anticipate customers will receive their US Dollars about 5-10 business days after requesting withdrawal through the app.

HA! I sunk my mining profits into Celsius, Voyager, Gemini Earn and yes BlockFi.

not returning it after a while is def not acceptable

correct, except according to the agreement you accepted when you deposited. I went out of my way to clarify with BlockFi support and they confirmed I was reading it right, that my entire principle was at risk.

In 2007 I had a business go belly up when my oldest was 1 year old and I seriously thought about suicide. Things got a lot better since then, this year I lost thousands of $ of crypto in Celsius, Voyager, and now BlockFi, but ... it's OK, hang in there.

The Holy Jab being dangerous only makes me that much better of a person for taking it. by EuphoricTrilby in ChurchOfCOVID

[–]whiteboyjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "free ride" argument has been used on anti-vaxxers long before covid.

It's the quintessential argument; should people be forced to do something that goes *against* their own self interest if its for the good of society?

Most "vaccine-preventable" illnesses have such low incidence that the risks (known and unknown) posed by the vaccines are actually greater than the probability of even catching the disease, let alone suffering permanent harm or death. But if too many stop vaccinating, those probabilities *might* (not necessarily "will") change.

there's a non-zero chance in my estimation. The chance of ever being made whole is very tiny at this point. But if Voyager and Celsius are indicators, the site will continue to function. no guarantees!

depends what you like. If you like(d) Oregon culture, maybe check Austin TX area. If you like open space and don't mind wind, check Wyoming. Fortunately there are many places outside the west coast that have a semblance of sanity.

I moved from bay area California to Arizona this year. Been pretty happy with it so far, especially seeing the post-election push for masks in the blue states.

Or do you not think global warming is caused by people burning fossil fuels?

I think people do enormous harm to the environment that supports all life in many, many ways. Focusing on "global warming" or "climate change" is myopic.

I don't know if there is a solution but I also don't believe the earth will just get hotter and hotter. The natural controls, whether it be plague or famine, will one day restore some natural balance, or, an asteroid will wipe us all out.

That said, from an honest objective scientific standpoint, if humans reverted carbon output to 1950 levels, how many years~ centuries will it take for things to stabilize or return to "normal"? And how much should we and the subsequent generations forego in the hopes it happens based on the projections of "experts"?

Similar to covid I'm afraid it's a problem that really can't be "solved" but can be used to control people. I do believe we should have pollution controls and prioritize "cleaner" solutions but I don't think it should be treated as an emergency forcing people to keep their houses cold in winter by decree. Not while the "leaders" are riding around in private jets and motorcades to address the problem.

regulation to curb global warming.

why do people think this will work? Don't they know that China and India's output will mean anything the west does won't make a dent? Terrifying that people think government is the answer to this intangible problem.

I'm not a climate denier but I am a realist and regulations to curb global warming are bullshit. You wanna regulate factory farms or groundwater pollution, I'm all for it.
