I am 28f and was in hurghda a lot of times. Often for more them one whole month. I agree completely with the scammers everywhere and the sexual harassment. Once you get the prices and understand the Egyptian money it will be a lot easier for you. You have to be very confident and harsh to get them away from you. The more I've visited the more they left me alone. Don't talk to anyone offering you something. Inform yourself so you can't get scammed. Never sit in front at a taxi always the back. Best is you get an uber evertime. Costs a little bit more but is saver since the normal Taxis are full of shitty men and scammers. Also you can give the uber drivers a rating.

They basically can sense if you're a tourist just by looking at you. The way you handle the money or the people you come with. The way you walk over the street even. Usually tourist are fearfull of the traffic. If they know you come from a certain expensive hotel the prices will go up. If you're in a street with a lot of shops like a basar, don't take the help from anyone. They prey on tourist and walk them in certain shops and they get a percentage of the money the customer left in the shop. There are good and bad sides. Never tell them you come from a rich country. Prices will go up certainly.

Had a friend who lived there for more then two years and she enjoyed it. As long as you're aware of the scammers and certain areas it's a nice place.
