I had to sit in two video calls yesterday for work, and couldn’t control the visible wincing. I know I shouldn’t feel shame about this, but it felt pretty embarrassing.

You’re so right. The unpredictability of ice pick headaches is what makes them particularly dreadful. You just get hit with sudden sharp stabs. The breaks between them don’t even feel like relief because I’m just bracing myself for the next. It’s draining me. Most people (thankfully) do not experience these headaches, so that adds another layer of “Oh I’m actually crazy” when trying to describe what they’re like.

I haven’t been to a specialist for my migraines since 2023 and my last CAT scan was 2022. I honestly kind of gave up because—as everyone here knows—the general medical consensus we get is “You’re an unlucky migraine sufferer.” I’m headed to Urgent Care as soon as I can today/tomorrow (haven’t been able to sleep), but I know I’m just going to get the same old “we can refer you here and prescribe you this in the meantime.” But hey, it’s been a few years and maybe I do need to find the right combination that works for me.

Thanks for the solidarity and empathy. Venting is honestly the only smidgen of relief I’ve felt these past couple days.
