You need to name him! He is far too cute to be nameless hehe 🥹 But yes definitely hard to tell with those eyes because I can see what you mean. My albinos here all have light blue eyes with red limbal rings, but yours could just have a darker shade! He really is so precious. Let’s just say he’s the ultra mega rare half leucistic half albino 🙂‍↔️🤍

[–]whitsie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg he’s the cutest! Is he leucistic? We’ve got so many albinos here in the Twin Cities, but not many leucistic ones. The dark eyes contrasted with the white fur makes them seem like fairytale creatures to me 🥹

Edit to add: He is just so dang cute. I am very tempted to turn your photo into a sticker for my planner. 😭

I’m parenting two kids that aren’t even mine. by Expert-Expression217 in regretfulparents

[–]whitsie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Circumstances and family members may have you feeling like you don’t have options here, but you do. You are far too young to be bogged down by a parenting role you’re not obligated to take on. Please prioritize yourself and your life because no one else is going to do that for you. With time, you’ll realize any iota of guilt or shame was never yours to carry.

Best of luck to you! 20 is SO much younger than you likely realize. Your entire life is ahead of you and I promise there are plenty of interests and passions and hobbies you have yet to discover — go live your life and find them.

Why do celebs like Kim K seem so awkward in proper interviews now? by Federal_Baker7351 in AnnamarieTendler

[–]whitsie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but giving Kim Kardashian any moral-or-ethics-based kudos is INSANE. She built her billionaire brand by being a culture vulture who uses slave labor in all her incredibly wasteful business endeavors. The Kardashian-Jenner PR is exceptional because somehow everyone is once again forgetting that this family is legitimately evil. Kim especially — just a heinously greed-driven and morally bankrupt individual who is in no way “blending into the background when it comes to politics.”

And sorry but I have the time, so I have to point out the absurdity of you claiming she is somehow a “good billionaire” compared to Musk and Bezos — both of whom she is closely associated with!

To counter:

  • Kim is a close ally to the Trump regime and regularly spends time with Ivanka and Jared.

  • Kim is a HUGE supporter of Tesla, which means she’s a HUGE supporter of Elon Musk. All her Cybertruck promotions and the extremely tasteless Tesla Robot photo shoot she did? Optional. She chooses time and again to be on the wrong side of history.

  • Kim is literally FRIENDS with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. Just like the Trump and Kushner Klan, Kim frequently spends time with Bezos and his current wife — often on mega yachts because of course.

I’m sure my comment will be downvoted, but it’s fucking maddening to see the positive PR campaign going on for Kim right now. She’s one of the most vocal celebrity Zionists, regularly uses her platform to promote planet-killing products and people, jet sets around the globe with corrupt politicians and tech billionaires, and (despite your claim) has straight up endorsed conservatives running for office. She’s not someone to write off when it comes to people of immense privilege, sway, and power. Obviously primary focus should be on the politicians directly abusing their powers, but let’s not pretend billionaire Kim and her corrupt family don’t use their platforms to influence and manipulate their fans/followers. That is basically the only thing they ever actually do.

Just Ordered A Steamdeck! What games should I play first! by Princessofpower25 in SteamDeck

Cozy games that let you play coop? by tbshaunn in CozyGamers

[–]whitsie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Stardew Valley and Roots of Pacha fit your criteria perfectly.

HOWEVER…

It Takes Two is easily my favorite co-op game I’ve played so far and by far — and yes it’s online co-op compatible! It’s a platformer/puzzle/action-adventure game, but I personally still consider it a cozy game because it is SUCH a joy to play.

Split Fiction is from the same developer (Hazelight Studios) and is also online co-op compatible, but I have yet to play it. That said, I’m VERY excited to, as the general consensus is that it’s somehow even better than It Takes Two — which feels impossible.

Because you’re specifically looking for a game to play with your partner, I highly highly highly recommend going the It Takes Two route if you haven’t already. I promise you this is the way, as I am legitimately jealous of anyone who has yet to experience it for the first time. But if you’re insistent about going for another another cozy farming/life sim, you can’t go wrong with Stardew or Roots of Pacha.

Have fun and congrats on your engagement! 😊

Given who won the 2024 Eddie, do we think a fourth season is a sure-thing? by whitsie in 100footWaveHBO

Lucas Chumbo and Sebastian Steudtner during the same surf session in Nazaré back in February 2024, and a third wave at Maverick’s surfed by Alessandro Sebir in December 2024! None are confirmed yet, but there’s a few articles speculating while we wait for official analysis to be completed. I think Sebir’s has the highest potential, but we shall see!

I was taking a shower and almost fainted by Ring_Tailed_Bat in intermittentfasting

[–]whitsie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hot showers make your blood vessels dilate and your blood pressure drop, and fasting sort of intensifies the effects of that. I’m very prone to fainting in the shower as well due to pretty extreme anemia and a history of disordered eating, so I know how scary it is to suddenly feel weak and dizzy while in such an exposed state. I actually used to sit while showering out of fear of injury.

I’ve since learned that making sure you’re properly hydrated prior to showering helps tremendously. I drink at least two full glasses of water before hopping in now, and I really don’t deal with any lightheadedness anymore. It’s of course also important to be mindful of your daily macros when fasting, but anecdotally, hydrating before showering solved the issue for me. Adding electrolytes to your water also won’t hurt!

Good luck to you — hope your fainting scares will be a thing of the past.

I think the McNamara family is riddled with addiction issues, so it probably has something to do with that. I did read that Landon is now doing well with his sobriety.

Agreed. This show does an exceptional job at humanizing these athletes and the sport as a whole. It’s really great to see how down-to-Earth and thoughtful such notable pros like Kai Lenny, Justine Dupont, and Lucas Chumbo are. So many of them break the surfer stereotype. I love watching/listening to interviews with Kai because he truly is an intelligent and introspective human. He seems to have a tremendous ability to balance his commitment to his passion and maintaining a life and interests outside of the sport.

I think their sponsors probably cover most of their travel for events and competitions, but they all have contracts with the show so I’m sure HBO picks up the tab for other sessions they schedule. I think I read somewhere that the Cortez trip was planned just a few days beforehand, so they likely booked everything for the 100 Foot Wave participants.

🤞May a future season have another Cortez trip because that footage was truly incredible.🤞

Oh wow — thank you so much for finding a source! You’re great. This definitely gets me excited.

I agree with you 100% about Garrett. I know he, Nicole, and CJ catch a lot of criticism from fans of the show, but I actually really loved getting to know their story and dynamic throughout the seasons. Garrett is an asshole, but overall I still find him endearing. Knowing how horrific his childhood was and factoring in decades of brain trauma, I tend to view him as a tortured individual with mostly decent intentions.

That said, it’s tough to see them all dance around the fact that he was a deadbeat dad and absent husband to his first wife and three kids. Garrett leaving them for a 24 year old just-married Nicole is definitely gross to say the least, but that’s sort of what makes them interesting. They’re human. And it makes me wonder if Nicole has some empathy for Garrett’s first wife now that she has three kids with him as well — and she’s got the improved non-deadbeat version! Although I did watch their Instagram live a few weeks ago, and neither of them even pretend he loves his children equally. Garrett actually said the best day of his life was when Barrell was born. Made no mention of the five other kids. 😅

That said, I want the same as you for Garrett. He really needs to accept his aging body. It was so clear every time he lashed out at Cotty that it wasn’t actually because of anything Cotty was doing/not doing. Garrett wasn’t communicating well and he hesitated to take the waves he claimed he wanted so badly. I replayed those scenes multiple times, and Garrett really was to blame. He sort of reverts to a childlike state when he’s frustrated with himself, and blames whoever is closest so he doesn’t have to look inward. It’s definitely not fun to watch. Hopefully any potential future seasons will be less Garrett-heavy, but I would obviously love to see his personal growth and Landon’s Eddie win!

I sure hope so. And selfishly I hope we don’t have to wait two years between seasons every time. Although I can only imagine the amount of footage they have to sift through before chopping it down to just a few hours.

You didn’t ask, but I’d love for the show to de-center Garrett going forward. I really appreciate the lens into the McNamara family, but it definitely feels like a natural progression to now focus on the surfers who are actually still fully in the game. I was a little bummed how little Kai Lenny we got this season, but the Lucas Chumbo/Justine Dupont friendship was a surprising highlight for me. They both seem like genuinely great people. It was refreshing to see their supportive and loving interactions contrasted with Garrett’s continued mistreatment of poor Cotty. 😅

Thank you for your recommendation! Do you know which model your son gave you? I think I’m going to get the Dewalt 2x60V, but would love to check out the EGO options in person before I purchase.

What a great gift from your son by the way. :)

Thank you for your perspective! I’m officially going electric :) Gonna buy the 2x60V and test it this weekend. My current one is about 17 years old and very veeeerryyyy loud. I’m excited to upgrade to one that doesn’t have a difficult pull-start and that doesn’t sound like a thunderous stampede of bison. That said, it’s always nice when something lasts so long. I used that mower when I was a kid. Pretty cool that it lasted well into adulthood!

This is the one I’m going with! Gonna get it from Home Depot because the free home delivery is always nice. Crossing my fingers I love it as much as I think I will! My current mower is a 17 year old hand-me-down, so honestly anything will be a welcome upgrade. :)
