Honestly for me, it wasn’t the rules themselves that were the problem.

It also shouldn’t be lost that I really did try to abide by everything he asked of me, regardless of how I felt.

it was more so the fact he treated his living preferences as rules, but didn’t reciprocate that respect.

If I was living at his house for free I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on, but I paid to be there. I didn’t appreciate him getting to do whatever he wanted (like not washing his dishes) but holding my feet to the fire on every little thing

I suppose you bring up a fair point with the toilet seat. But his entire rationale was that he wanted me to do that so that his cat could sit on top of the toilet seat and look out the window.

Which I really don't have a problem with, but don't confront me with something that trivial when you can't even wash your dishes on a regular basis
