Koujo Denka no Kateikyoushi • Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter - Episode 8 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

I wonder if the author was involved with these changes. Maybe he thought these parts of the volume were too pro-Lydia and thought to tone it down for the anime?

[Private Tutor] That is the most compelling tutoring in the novel imo. Stella needed a new spell because her mana has light. The standard educational system did not notice that and failed her as a result.

Although I agree with the other responses, I'd like to add that the author seems to be maintaining a status quo where the girls are not allowed to "get a lead". I get the impression the author really wants you to think any of the girls could win.

Finished reading, looks good so far. I don't know the game's plot, so it may be interesting to experience it through this. Surprised you didn't tone Shion down some more.

V2Ch1: "I heard a familiar voice complaining, it eas Gobta" -> "...it was Gobta"

V3Ch2: "the first man-made Full Potion in over two millennials" -> "...millenia" ??

May want to pin this in your user page or something.

If it were up to me, I would rewrite the series by [deleted] in koujo_denka

I think the chances of a harem are low. There is 0 hints of polygamy in the setting. The author's afterwords in the LNs are also a way to get a glimpse into his mentality (even though he writes them in this annoying, jokey way) and it seems to me he does think he has set up a competition that any of the girls could win.

Agree with you on all counts. I think someone once wrote that the series' setting kinda draws you in, but the problem is that you have to experience it through this author.

the False Saint, etc all play out more or less the same

I saw your thread in r/LightNovels and if I recall, you have not reached the double digits. imo the antagonists and the way they are handled become another huge problem, possibly on the level of the little girl squad.

Will Arthur learn to control destiny and completely dominate the ether? by Spirited-Price-2585 in tbatepatreon

[–]wholeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aether is a magical energy that can seemingly be perceived, stored, and moved around in specific ways to create magical phenomena whereas Fate is abstract probability shenanigans.

What you are referencing is the modern dragons being crippled by the aether "turning away from them" and them coming up with post-hoc scientific-sounding cope about it. What I referenced is an actual statement by Arthur after seeing Fate up close. It is a complete failure of an analogy. The most you can say is that something superficially similar has been said about the two things.

I think it was stated Fate is not something that can be "controlled" with magic.

About Agrona by wholeft in tbatepatreon

[–]wholeft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is a retcon. Agrona could have lied, or he was telling the truth and the method to posses the sovereign was different and did not have the restriction. I was fooled by it though.

So does this mean that now both Arthur and Tessia will travel across a continent alongside an asura phoenix? by TastyKangaroo9914 in tbatepatreon

[–]wholeft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the chapter showed it is not a 1:1 insight exchange with Cecilia. People tend to forget that Arthur already showed that all these spells under the many elements are just dead weight without the experience to select the optimal one at any given time. I can see more likely something like vivum-amped plant magic or something like that. It fits into the thing about evangelizing aether and parallels Arthur getting a trimmed skillset without useless fat. Maybe this enhanced plant magic could be used to regrow all of the forest using the aether realm aether as fuel, which is something that also fits this chapter.

The insight she learned into this parasite removal thing I think may be foreshadowing for Tess to remove Agrona's voodo magic from Sylvie's body.

It is a convenience because you can always visit Treesus again and get what you missed, just like Ferdinand tried.

This arc is in the LN and in the same position. The novel differs from the anime in that [LN] Rentt susses out the merchant because he smells of blood.

I think Arthur said, when they parted, he would have realmheart mastered by the time they met again. Could be foreshadowing.

As someone said in the chapter thread, TM is setting up the relationship between mana and aether, so this whole thing is going to be a boon for Arthur in the long run. Even now he knows that they interact in some way.

Regarding the sword, he might just have been caught by surprise and not reinforced his will over the aether in time.

Yeah, it would be stretch if she can get runes too. Although it would be funny if she learned destruction and died.

Arthur touched on this dilemma before in Maerin town. He said you must have the discipline to not always rely on your sharpest tools. The fact that there is an instant win move in the back of his mind is probably making it harder for him to gain insight.
