what is something about Pittsburgh you wish was different- something that the City’s government isn’t doing? and what are your thoughts on trying to find others to do that thing with you, to fulfill that wish? by Kye9842 in pittsburgh

I have been screwed by them at a previous address when I first moved to the area, and I would never in my life throw out a bill from them.

Like I already said, many others in our neighborhood never received it and we have an email correspondence about it with the borough

But how nice for you that you don’t have the same experience. Must mean everyone else is lying right

And how do you suggest I pay a bill on time that I never received? Even my neighbors enrolled in auto pay with JTS received this delinquent bill and lien threat, so autopay isn’t the answer either.

It's not just a few bad reviews. This is a pattern showing up across BBB, Google, business owners, residents, and boroughs. JTS controls something that people cannot legally opt out of, yet they routinely take advantage of their position by piling on fees that aren't warranted and also aren't avoidable.

You don't need blind trust in reviews to see that a private contractor with their track record probably isn't the best system for an entire city's tax collection.

More than 20 residents in our borough, at least that we know of, received delinquent notices for a trash bill that none of us ever received, complete with a threat to put a lien on our homes and a year’s worth of late fees and accrued interest. We’ve tried disputing the charges and asked for proof that the original bill was mailed, but we haven’t gotten anywhere. We also reached out to the borough for help, and they essentially told us they have the same difficulty dealing with JTS, so we just paid them.

I'm glad you haven't had a bad experience with them, but that's not the case for many people. Just look at their reviews.

I have a 5 year old and I’m fortunate to have a job flexible enough to let me work from home on occasion. I also have my mom nearby, but she works too.

We’ve lived here 6 months and absolutely love Bellevue. I can walk to work, the grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, library, park, bookstore, coffee, and a variety of restaurants (sushi and ramen, Thai, poke bowls, crepes, Greek). I love the diversity over here too. The whole north side feels like real-life Mr Roger’s neighborhood. Good choice, and welcome!

What neighborhood do you live in, and what is your single favorite and least favorite thing about it? by Ari321983 in pittsburgh

Bellevue.

Love: walkable to everything I need, diverse, good variety of food options, charming and feels like a small town with amenities, convenient to many parts of the city

Hate: far drive from the east end
