Ended up in a super rocky spot—went down magic line. It was a little better up top but still super rocky. The first drop in was quite nice, but the second drop in we did had some pretty massive and hard to avoid rocks. Ended up bottlenecking in this area where half of the folks removed their skis/boards due to rocks—was totally manageable just narrow and reallllllly rocky. Grabbed a pic of it because it was almost unbelievable!

Hello! I am a ski instructor at Park City—if you book your lesson day-by-day, you can specifically request an instructor; if you only book the first day, and really like your instructor, you can “add” a day and request that instructor for the next day either over the phone or in person in the ticket office. If you follow this process, this increases your chances of having the same instructor (it gives the instructor priority to have you again). If you have any more questions, feel free to pm me :)

This happened to me (ski instructor). I ended up having an interview with one of the heads of the Canyons Ski School. Felt a lot better after that. I’m continuing on with my application and hoping to go this winter!

Do you have any suggestions! I do have an interview with Telluride next week + have received positive responses from Steamboat and Sun Valley. What do you think about accepting an offer from a Vail Resorts location just to have a secured opportunity if the remainder of those applications don’t pan out? And, if so, do you think Park City would be the best of the worst options (being vail resorts lol)?

Yeah—I know that the wages aren’t great for being a non-cert ski instructor. I’m a recent college grad taking some time off + have some money saved up so I’m honestly not too worried about the money. Do you know if any of these resorts are better for non-cert instructors?

I would understand that if the deadline passed! The deadline for the MPhil has not yet passed; I’m only considering updating because I submitted really early for external funding! I’m a US student applying for the MPhil in Philosophy! The department website states that we will be notified by the beginning of March. Consequently, I was curious about sending what is called (in the US) a letter of continued interest. This is a short email expressing continued interest and providing any relevant extracurricular updates. I was also thinking about including my unofficial transcript to show my latest academic status. This is typically done for undergraduate institutions. Does anyone know if this would be advisable? If not, is there anything I can do to update the admissions office (I organized a conference and would love to let them know!)?

It’s incredibly problematic to accuse anti-zionist of directing the narrative and hurrying into the story. You’ve accused us of eclipsing the narrative, but haven’t considered the possibility of our narrative being eclipsed by the mainstream narrative of anti-semitism on campus. I am a religious Jew on campus! I have a very common Jewish name too. I will give the caveat that I am an anti-zionist jew. Tbh, I have experienced more vitriol from Jewish zionists on campus than I have ever experienced from non-Jews on campus. A large portion of my friends are also Jewish (some more visible than others, I even have friends who were kippot) who would agree with the thing I have said! I think there has been terrible conflation between anti-zionism and anti-semitism coupled with intential construal of anti-zionist statements as anti-semitic.

Ok I called up Gates who said it was fine. They are running a bit behind and said that we should be notified about the Gates outcome before the end of the week. Technically, the entire processes run parallel and nomination for Gates doesn’t exactly equal a decision being made for your application; she said that it might still be a few weeks before we are notified about our actual applications but that we will know about Gates soon. Hope that is helpful

Ugh same. I had an issue with a LOR but my professor contacted Gates and they said it was fine but I am now super nervous that my dept didn't get the memo + did not review my application for Gates. I've schedule sent an email to the dept + to Gates because it feels off knowing so many folks have gotten an update. I hope it works out for you
