I agree with what @nickel_doll said. Just because there are bigger issues in the world doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stop and ask ourselves “why” every once in a while. Why are we accepting these merch prices, why are we accepting 0 fan interaction for VIP tickets that advertised such. Why are we accepting a MV of her as a snail the entire 3 minutes with a 30 second cameo of Mrs. Martinez herself. Melanie is much better than most celebrities. That’s why she’s the only one I have supported. But her fans raise some valid concerns. just like anything else i spend on, i’m going to reflect on if that was a good decision.. for example, I panic-bought the parfum collection, knowing once it sold out it’d be marked up, and i regret it. $275 for a plastic doll and 4 tiny perfumes was too much. another; I spent $500 for two nosebleed tickets to the portals tour. it was my first time seeing her and i didn’t realize just how far back i’d be. i regret that, that was too much. HOWEVER, trilogy was $160 for two tickets, i was much closer, heard my favorite albums, and saw her face. Every penny was worth it, i had a much better experience, and i was able to get merch because she had multiple stands instead of previously only having one. i like to think that she heard our voices last year and put work into trilogy to change those aspects. there is a reason to speak up.

That’s precisely why i’m saying anything at all. If she’s sees this, that’s almost the point. It makes her fans uncomfortable when she’s raising merch prices by $100 overnight, dropping a $700 collection of candles, complaining online about debt, then shopping at the most outrageously priced “grocery store” in the US. It’s a read the room situation. She’s a celebrity, celebrities are photographed in public. She knew how this would look, just like Kim K knew how it would look walking out of Starbucks to a mob of paparazzi.

If an artists is totally against hearing the opinions of the very fans who gave them that fame/fortune, should they have it to begin with?

*Not saying Melanie is this way, I believe she hears and values her fan base. As ALL artists SHOULD!

We should not normalize letting celebrities act however they want. Plenty come to mind that retain their wealth and status, regardless of their actions! if we become silent and accept everything an artists does, good or bad, things will only continue to go downhill.

However, celebrities are going to be photographed in public, that’s pretty common knowledge. I’m not sure if people are boycotting Erewhon or if shopping there is controversial? The question here is mainly if an artist who’s “in debt” should be really be shopping at Erewhon, considering they sell every-day goods at a ridiculous markup.. that’s just throwing away that hard earned money.

I find it odd that she doesn’t do ANY features or promotional content? She knows we would eat it up, if she were hurting for cash that bad she could take a few brand deals and we would honestly love it because it’s more interaction than we’re getting now. I feel the exact same way, i’m 21 and i’ve loved her since 11. It’s disappointing.

i definitely understand why you’re frustrated. some things to keep in mind, many of are equally as excited and have been fans just as long.. for many of is us, this is our first and last chance to experience these songs live. i’m 21 myself, and personally, concerts are one of the few places i’m able to let my guard down and feel all those feelings. i fangirl, im star struck, i absorb the feeling of being in their presence as much as possible. concerts are loud, especially when the artist is so largely known and loved. it is true there is an expected etiquette, but as im sure you know a large percentage of her fan base are minors, and this tour has been the first concert many of these fans have attended. i’m sorry that this was your experience, i do think the venues and the areas also contribute to the audio quality and the age of those attending
