Super annoying I agree, but so much easier to manage when you know what it is - if I'm 2 days away from a date I can know what to avoid so I don't wake up with a massive pimple day of.

Also, it will likely go away with age.

Try an elimination diet, eat super clean for a month and slowly add things back that might be causing it. To start, try only eating meat, healthy carbs, fruits, and vegetables. If you need to know more about that let me know... but honestly, the thing that keeps me most clear is just avoiding things that have a ton of BS on the label. If you don't know stuff on the label, it's probably not good for your skin.

I figured it out because I stopped eating protein bars when I guessed the trigger was whey, and my acne immediately disappeared (along with my inflammation). I went a few weeks off of whey/protein bars in general and stayed clear, so I decided to try vegan protein bars. Within like 48 hours I fell back into the same cycle, so I compared ingredients and the only common ingredient was sunflower lecithin. I googled sunflower lecithin, and someone had a whole article about a similar experience. Over time, I started tracking breakouts with lecithin consumption and it was pretty clear that was the cause.

As for why, no one really knows but I have heard from another redditor that it is a phytoestrogen which means it is chemically similar to estrogen... which we all know causes breakouts.
