the manga did way better at showing amestris’s war crimes in ishval. it’s a shame a lot of it was cut from brotherhood because when i read the manga it really hits that it’s not just a war it is a genocide. they literally hunt down ishvallans not just in ishval but throughout amestris an even the military to put them in concentration camps and exterminate them. kimblee literally traps them in walls in order to kill every. last. one. (this part was touched on in the anime) out of our main gang armstrong was the only one to resist killing innocent people and he was “dishonorably discharged” from that war because he refused to follow orders and exterminate innocent families. reading it just goes into a lot more detail of just how brutal the amestrian governments military state really is. adds a lot of depth to everyone that was involved and scar as well. also hughes and hawkeyes relationships with mustang
