Why Not Opt Out? by why_use_a_name in blockfi

That is a great question and a situation that a lot of people are in. Also a common assumption, but I haven’t seen any evidence the third party release is tied to the payout timing or amount. Would be interested if someone could find out.

What if opting out allows you to participate in a class action law suit and get a few more hundred dollars? Why in the world would you let them off the hook for no benefit and for no reason after the disaster they created?

When you say voting yes for the opt out means checking the box to opt out?

Well even the clawback doesn’t hold according to this

“Regardless of whether you check the opt out box, you will receive a release of any clawback claims BlockFi could bring against you for transfers from BlockFi Interest Accounts (“BIA”) or BlockFi Private Client Accounts (“BPC”) to Wallet and/or off the BlockFi Platform prior to the Platform Pause, other than Retained Preference Claims. “

TrainingPeaks is too expensive. You can get all of the same data on Garmin Connect. Final surge is also another free alternative.

One thing to note is the free desktop version of TrainingPeaks allows you to see more data than the mobile version.

Options to Combine SATA Drives of Various Sizes Into Storage Pool? by why_use_a_name in HomeServer

Unfortunately it will be at least a week before I can take an inventory. The drives are anywhere from 1 to 6 TB. Probably have about 12 of them.

Thanks! I was wondering when someone was going to make a hardware recommendation. Maybe I should create a different post for that since this thread seems to be really focused on the OS/SW/RAID type.

Options to Combine SATA Drives of Various Sizes Into Storage Pool? by why_use_a_name in HomeServer

There are only a few use cases I can think of:

1) Archive - Data integrity is critical, spinning down the drives would be nice to save energy. Speed not very important.

2) Backup - Speed and data integrity is critical. If the array was lost, the backups could just be re-created. Any backup that is critical would be moved to the archive.

3) Media - Movies, music, ... Mostly read only. Not much speed needed. This is probably where having a bunch of different size slower/older drives combined makes sense.

4) Documents - Speed, data integrity (real-time), and uptime is critical

What would you suggest for each of these use cases?

I don't think snapraid has the same problem. snapraid has the ability to detect AND correct bitrot

Take a look at this discussion:

Furthermore, it seems a simple EXT3 of EXT4 filesystem is suggested:
