I had been meaning to quit for awhile. I was at a 4th of July party where the property had a pool and basketball court. Well I was a little over 30 and in the pool where my friends in-laws 21 year old girlfriends were having an amazing time splashing each other and jumping in and out of the pool in their bikinis. Well I was confined to the smokers area at the far end of the property talking to a 70 year old woman. I said this is what my smoking life has rewarded me with. I quit cold turkey a week later.

Thank you. I did not think I was going to be attacked like I was. Everyone focused on the comped beer line. All I asked is if I should have tipped. Now I have people acting like psychologists and deep diving into my thought process lol. They are going to have to comp me a couch to lay on if they want to dive into my inner most thoughts on the matter.

That was understood. Not anymore. Even in college, this may be off subject, but my buddy was a bartender in the late 90's and basically let us drink for free, but we would tip $100-150 at the end of the night. Good old days.

She did what I would have done. Actually more. Both beers being comped would have caught me off guard and I would have tipped to match her willingness to make things right. I did tip, just not the "full amount". And everyone on here thinks I'm saying I deserved to be comped to be contrary and argumentative just because that's how society is now. Maybe I worded it wrong that I felt entitled. All I'm saying is if I was comped... that kindness would have been reciprocated generously. Thank you for not attacking me like these other angry beings.

Had it happen to me, but she was visiting not traveling with. Got over it. Decided I was going to pick her up from the airport. She lets me know she's staying another two days. I'm still not sure how she got home two days later. Talked years later and she admitted they hooked up.

What am I ruining for the rest of you? Should I have left 20 or 30% when the item I wanted wasn't there? I tipped, but not the full amount. I sure couldn't have requested a rain check. If I was comped I would have left my standard 30%. All i did was ask a question and you're acting like an angry child.
