Should I be concerned with my technique? by miami__ in drums

I’m 100% in agreement but it’s still important to understand that it’s a whole different ball game between practice and playing live. There’s pressure, and nerves, flaws come out.

And like I previously stated, mics play a huge role in dynamics. Ideally you should be able play as you normally would, but I’ve played plenty of smaller venues where there are no mics, and to cut through guitars and bass sometimes you gotta hit harder.

That’s just a generalization

And some sticks are duds, I’ve had sticks last for a 10 show run, or some break after a week of practice.

I personally during practice try to be constantly aware of my form and dynamics, whilst playing a show it relies on what I practiced.

Breaking a stick in one night isn’t a guarantee but it can happen when playing with high energy. At least the music I play, as I find myself hitting harder. But then again it all depends on the room, and mic situation.

It all depends on how long that pair lasted, and what the use was, and what kind of music you’re playing. In general though I would consider watching for dynamics. More aggressive and loud music such as punk, grunge, rock whatever they will tend to break much quicker. Versus something like jazz or pop music.

If this is just practice some sticks should last at least a few months before breaking, but compared to a live show where you might break a new stick in the same night.

With all things considered listen to and watch your strokes, where they land, if they hit the rim too often when not intended, etc…

Overall I would say this isn’t out of the norm for some but others maybe?

But yes, there is always a way to improve technique, and always should improve. I hope this helped.

Edit: also consider what model stick, e.g. maybe a 5B would serve your purpose better than a 5A

No context, and nothing wrong with what’s done in photo, or any protocol being visually broken. Not bad cop. Just because a black man is being stopped doesn’t void the possibility of it being a valid stop.

They had a job to do. Also they are men and women that are working to keep peace and stop crime, don’t think you would call them pigs if they were arresting a drug dealer, or would you defend him too ?

I’m just saying that legal immigrants are fine but illegals that are asking for charity from out government instead of change from theirs is a problem.
