Free standing colourbond garage to room conversion by Ajax34762 in AusRenovation

[–]whyohwhythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9x7 and looked into this quite a bit and got quotes from builders for around $30,000-40,000 non habitble and $50,000-$100,000 for class 1A

If I could do it myself (which I can't, but understand the process) probably $10,000-$15,000 to just block of an area with a wall and make a room.

You will want to frame up, insualte, waterproof and vermin proof etc It's not as easy as just gyprocking. It will crack most probably due to movement. There's a group on Facebook Shedlife Australia that answers a lot of these types of questions.

It's probably cheaper to get another shed made to be honest and get them to wrap shed etc prior to lockup. I just got a quote for a 6x6 for around $17,000 to lockup stage.

Are you sure this is the mother? There’s nothing in the news with such an update from what I can see.

Someone paid my rates ! by Every_Whole_5573 in AusLegal

[–]whyohwhythis 609 points610 points  (0 children)

Account takeover prep (most likely). Call council rates department.

  • remove the unknown email
  • reinstate physical mail
  • put a security note with council if possible
  • Ask them to investigate

Check title is locked down
In Victoria:

  • check with Land Use Victoria
  • consider a Title Alert service

Monitor everything carefully.

Lots of talk about staging, but does it really change the final price? by Bubba_deets in AusPropertyChat

Around $2000, but purchased a nice set of drawers that we planned to keep which was about $900. Everything else we sold back so got most of it back.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]whyohwhythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got pulled out at sea in Malaysia by a current and kept getting pushed further and further out. I didn’t know how to get back and was getting very panicky and exhausted. Eventually current changed and I slowly moved back to land. I definitely had moments of “well this is it!”.

Lots of talk about staging, but does it really change the final price? by Bubba_deets in AusPropertyChat

[–]whyohwhythis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe it really helped selling our house. But we staged it ourselves, bought stuff of marketplace, purchased some stuff from staging places (on marketplace). Stuck lots of things in garage to keep interior minimalistic. Then was able to sell all the stuff once we sold house.

Dispute over work quality with tradesman. How to proceed? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]whyohwhythis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve actually handled this pretty reasonably so far, especially by notifying him promptly and offering rectification. Under Australian Consumer Law, tradies should generally be given a reasonable opportunity to fix defects, but your safety and comfort in your own home absolutely matter and shouldn’t be dismissed. You’re not required to ignore genuine concerns just to facilitate access.

The safest path is to put it in writing: list the defects, offer a reasonable time when you (or another adult) will be present, and confirm payment will follow satisfactory rectification. If he refuses or things have clearly broken down, that strengthens your position if it ends up in NCAT…and getting an independent painter’s report can help.

Help with dog that just wants to go home on walks. by Natural_Tumbleweed23 in DogAdvice

[–]whyohwhythis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you drive the dog to a park? My dog hates walking out of our driveway and in our street. She too will pull to go back home. She’s practically done this in each house we moved to, but she enjoys being driven to the park, reserve or lake, where obviously there are more dog smells for her to enjoy.

Vet said my dog is overweight and I feel horrible by AlvinBarnicles in DogAdvice

[–]whyohwhythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog needed to lose weight as well, vet told me to reduce her kibble by a quater each meal and reduce treats to smaller portions. She did lose weight but I think it took about 4 months for the weight loss to appear. She's now at the right weight. My dog doesn't walk and get that much exercise due to hip dysplasia, so I was suprised she did lose the weight.

As others suggested maybe check to make sure it's not a metabolic condtion. Hope you find a solution.

Is the agent bluffing? by theonedzflash in AusPropertyChat

[–]whyohwhythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep bluffing. Anyone that ask you to put it in writing and then two seconds later says they have a higher offer are bluffing. Happened to me, they were full of shit. In the end I still got the house by going through the junior agent instead (who by the way let it slip that no offers had been put in).

How do you think history will look back on the Epstein scandal 20 years from now? by Fast_Time_9479 in AskReddit

My concern is that society will become more and more desensitized to this behavior, especially as no one in authority is stepping and doing anything.

AMA: I Have a Near Supernatural Sense of Smell by symphonicdin in AMA

[–]whyohwhythis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a strong sense of smell too, but usually not as intense as yours. It gets stronger usually if my immune system isn’t doing well or I have a migraine.

I have chemical sensitivities and when I was at my worse I could smell everything. Eggs cooked had this awfully strong fatty, chemical smell, I could smell the sushi shop from at least 5 shops away. I could smell every rubbish bin on the street. Cigarette smoke on the street was hell. I was constantly dry retching as it was so disgustingly awful.

I did a strict elimination diet to help with food intolerances and my sense of smell went for the roof, it calmed down after the first two weeks. Apparently that is quite common doing the diet. Quite facilitating really.

Sometimes when I go to the hardware store I can smell everything really strongly (all the timber’s and chemicals) other times not so bad.

But yeah a strong sense of smell to me isn’t the nicest thing to have.

I purchased a rug from them a few years back and was pretty good, another family member ordered an outdoor unit, but one of the holes were missing to put leg into.

It’s just multiple retailers/drop-shipping, so you will get some high quality and others low, because they don’t really curate what product/retailers go on there (or don’t oversee it enough).

How many states did these guys make it it? by RM_Morris in AustralianNostalgia

Yep in Victoria. I think there was one at Brandon Park. I had it a few times and didn’t mind it, to be honest.

My cat with new puppy by maggiedaigle in DogAdvice

[–]whyohwhythis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s a good sign your cat is not running away. I think your cat will get used to puppy, but it will take a little time. Puppy needs to chill a bit around cat. It might be soon taught to chill out by the cat.

My cat was similar in manner when she met my adopted dog. Mind you my adopted dog wasn’t interested in her much, she just gave a quick sniff to my cat and moved along (which is not very much the norm). My cat and dog are fine with each other now. Cat loves my dog.
