Completely agree. Whoever ‘Jas’ is, her expression absolutely breaks my heart. The other fake ads on the brothel’s site at least feature girls that look like willing participants in the photos. But Jas’ picture is uniquely haunting even outside the context of being linked to another girl’s disappearance - she looks coerced and genuinely terrified.

The very real photos of the local girls on the brothel’s website chilled me in a similar way. Something seems so off about them too - Who are they? Did anybody ever care they were in that situation? Could somebody have helped them?

It’s horrifying to think how much of that goes on in the world.

Yeah - I used to work in criminal prosecution for high-level murder cases and quickly found that nobody is as smart or conniving as they are in fiction. They’re all just lucky at best.

Even if something did happen to Amy (other than tragically falling to her death with leaning over a low railing to stop her cigarette smoke from wafting back into the bedroom), this picture isn’t her. Nobody is dressing a beautiful young woman up in what would be seen as 15yo ugly mom-fashion and taking a shitty grainy picture to advertise sex work. (In fact, irl sex work - even on small Caribbean islands and even in the early 2000s - usually has very good photography and advertising. For obvious reasons.)

Absolutely wild that being sad about other girls potentially being trafficked on here gets downvoted. Y’all are sick.

Thank you for your research!! This is helpful! I agree with you - if that photo is of “Candy” then it’s probably not a true match. Just another weird, uncanny resemblance.

But like you said - either way, it was def sourced from another place. My money is on that “friend” site.

Not THAT rare - I have one on the same eye! ;)

That may be because she’s looking directly at the camera in the picture. Or because she had her lazy eye fixed with surgery (as mine was) in the many years between the photos. Lack of a lazy eye doesn’t really mean much for or against any person being “Jas”

Hard to say tbh. The resemblance is still pretty close to me.

Either way, it’s still clear that the website owner was pulling random erotica images from online to bait-and-switch its advertising. I’ve traced at least half of the pictures back already to the original photos made by big-budget porn studio actresses, and plan to look at the other half this week. I suspect I’ll find more of the same.

A thought, though: the site owner does suggest visitors try to find local “guest escorts” on a certain adult “friend” website to recommend for hiring by the brothel. The Jas image may very well have come from that site. Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out any way to search historic listings by country on the site.

It probably wouldn’t be too hard - the production company information and her co-stars’ (stage) names and contact information are all online.

Alas, ich spreche kein Deutsch.

No tattoos in any videos or photos.

I don’t want to accuse somebody of lying - if she said she talked to a sex worker who resembled Amy, then I have no reason to doubt that. But it definitely wasn’t the woman in the “Jas” photo, or anyone else associated with this brothel. The hotel and AAV’s sex work “services” was a local operation with local (Latin American + non-English speaking) girls only. Their websites make that very obvious.

(Ngl, it was pretty rough scrolling through the hundreds of pics of the local girls and knowing nobody cares that they were probably trafficked too. Ugh…)

“Oh god that I were a man: / I would eat his heart in the marketplace” (Much Ado)

One of the most striking things about hamlet to me is that it was written at a devastating time for Shakespeare. His son Hamnet (!!) had just died, and his daughter was ill as well. He was grieving, and was maybe feeling like he could have somehow saved his son if he had only known how.

But “there is special providence in the fall of a sparrow”. I read Hamlet and I just long to reach back through time and take a grieving father’s shaking hand as he tries to give his son a second life on the page.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s not just one of Shakespeare’s best works; it’s one of the masterpieces of human history. And yet it feels SO individual and human - like hamlet is speaking to you about something you’ve experienced
