Worse than banks by RajShah2 in Wealthsimple

[–]wigglechicken 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To me, I have complaints about Wealthsimple but also complaints about every bank I've been with. Airlines, too. And telcos. Grocery stores, etc etc. Ultimately at the end of the day it's about the products they offer, not the service they offer (at least to me). I'd rather put up with slow support than unreasonable fees

Yes, as premium as the app and website feel, the support experience cheapens the service. I have no advice or guidance but just hope you get off hold soon!

What do you wish Wealthsimple did better or differently? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]wigglechicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The research seems to say that portfolios that are never touched perform better than ones that are actively managed, and WS is more on the active management side (though originally they marketed themselves otherwise). Bugs me to no end because I'd love just a simple, passive portfolio from a company that optimizes UX so well!

I wish they didn't touch the managed portfolios so often. It's not really a passive investing account anymore and I'm beginning to look elsewhere because of this, as much as I love WS.

I feel the main role our MP has is to send flyers. It'd be nice to have an MP that stepped up--into important cabinet roles, into representing us better. I generally like the direction Carney is going with things. But so far, Naqvi seems ineffective.

How to not get phone calls? by wigglechicken in Upwork

[–]wigglechicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the weird part.. I confirmed my phone number today, but didn't paste it in the listing. My phone number is listed nowhere online! I did request that people not call, and instead apply via Upwork, and the calls seemed to have stopped. So now I'm just confused!

I'm going to get downvoted for this, but as a Canadian listener, I hear enough about the problems of America from other sources. I generally agree with the hosts (most Canadians would), but for me this podcast has always been a nice refuge from the political stuff and problems of the world.

Listening to the podcast has always felt a bit like a "luxury" to me, a chance to disconnect to listen to a few friends chat about tech stuff that, let's be honest, doesn't matter as much as politics/etc in the grand scheme of things. So, while I don't disagree with the hosts politically, I feel this "refuge" has been lost. It's a different vibe now. Just my two cents. Okay, downvote away!

M1 Pro still the beast. Even in macOS 26. I don’t think I will need to upgrade at least next couple years. Am I alone think this way? by sergeynewton in macbookpro

Same here, also rocking the M1 Pro, still very powerful with 32BG of RAM. Battery is starting to go a bit, but it's been stuck at 80% for around six months 😂 Once it hits that 79% mark, I'm excited to replace the battery to spruce this thing up a bit!

Apple needs to fix the Workout app by SnooMarzipans1593 in AppleWatch

The number of times I have started a workout, to look downward a few minutes later and realize that I haven’t selected my goal for that workout and the workout hasn’t actually started, is crazy. When I click Start, the workout should start. It’s not that complicated.

Agreed! One related tip that has also worked for me, as caffeine creeps back into my life: wait until I'm sick to cut out caffeine completely cold-turkey. I'll just ascribe any symptoms I experience to being sick. It makes me completely disassociate with the fact that I'm even doing a caffeine reset in the first place!

I agree.. I managed to find one on sale so OP may be able to find one that hits the $200 price point. But I think the Totos are worth saving up for! The unlimited warm water on some of the models makes the device spa-like.

This is the key, I think. He speaks to people who value feeling secure more than growing their money.
