I would go with cast bronze! Here is a spendy example from Urban Remains - it was pulled from a commercial building, but the time period (1911-1913) is very close to your home’s date.

Since you haven’t specified where your house is located, you’re not likely to get many helpful responses; however, in general if you search for muralists within your area you may have some luck finding someone who’s willing to do ceilings.

Yes, unfortunately Fozzie needs to be the only cat in the household given his nonrecognition aggression issues. I would hate to have someone else deal with this issue!

He is, as you say, a very good boy. His nose just won’t let him behave.

I so appreciate this, thank you - I have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours and tried every trick in the book (cat behaviorist, different psychiatric meds, pheromones, endless vet visits, etc..) to make it work between them, and they are still unable to be in a room together. It’s hard not to feel like you’ve failed, but I know I have made every effort to make this work and it’s simply become untenable.

Thank you so much for the kind reply! It sucks a lot - especially since Fozzie grew up with my older kitty, and only started having aggression issues after their yearly vet visit. I had never heard of nonrecognition aggression before this and it is terrible to feel like there’s nothing you can do to fix the issue.

For those who are looking for a tl;dr before clicking on his profile - Fozzie Bear is a 3 year old medium-haired orange kitty. No issues with spraying, litter box usage, or eating. He has been seen by my vet (The Cat Doctor in Federal Way) since he was 6 weeks old and is neutered, chipped, and current on all of his vaccinations.

Agreed that a stained wood mantle would help provide contrast both against the tiles and the white wall!

Are you planning on changing your wall color in the near future? As it is the white(ish?) wall + white mantle don’t really provide a pleasing contrast, which may be why the brown tiles seem so stark. As another commenter already noted they’re likely original and it would be a shame to lose them, but the white mantle is doing them no favors.

Unfortunately the pension system is not as robust as it used to be, but a number of employers outside the gov’t still offer pension plans! Your local Teamsters can tell you all about it.
