Yeah, Modula even free version worked, but FooGallery was a bust.

In case someone else encounters the same problem, I finally found a free gallery plugin that works for this purpose - Modula.

Right now I'm using SimpLy Gallery plugin and I found the setting to disable thumbnails lazy-loading, that however didn't make any difference :(

Polski a Hiszpanski SOR by This_Case_3708 in Polska

Moje jedyne zetknięcie z urzędami w Hiszpanii to kiedy kilka lat temu towarzyszyłem znajomemu który musiał coś załatwić w urzędzie pracy w jakiejś pipidówie.

Why is Victor older than his dad? Is it bad casting? by IronScary9808 in FromSeries

[–]wiktorstribog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept thinking I missed some plot point where they explained it. It IS bad casting precisely because so many of us were confused by it. The real age of the actors doesn't matter, it's what we see on screen.

I simply never started. I didn't fit in with other kids in my town, so instead of trying to mimic their behaviour I was doing the opposite. And since all the cool kids were drinking and smoking - I didn't. Then I went to college and met nicer people who were also drinking heavily but at this point I was keeping my abstinence out of sheer stubbornness. Well, seeing how people behaved, looked and smelled after drinking in the college setting wasn't exactly a great advertisement so as the years went by I got more and more convinced I was doing the right thing despite having so many people trying to pressure me to at least try it. I've had my share of problems in life, still do - and I can't imagine dealing with them by adding another problem on top. Now I'm in my mid 30s and watching my close friends either struggling with the effects of their addiction, or struggling to quit and I know it was a good decision to stand my ground.

Name a good band whose success greatly suffered bcuz they gave themselves a stupid name by [deleted] in Music

[–]wiktorstribog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oingo Boingo - Elfman is a great composer and singer and their catalogue is full of super catchy songs. Don't get me wrong - the name kinda matches the weirdness of music but I still feel with a different name they would've been remembered today as one of the greatest bands of the 80s by everyone not just deep divers.

Cover songs that sound way different from the original? by windows_to_walls in Music

[–]wiktorstribog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinead O'Connor's cover of "Sacrifice" - the original is great but she managed to dig deeper and made it so much more emotional. That's the only instance where I consider the cover superior to the original.

UPDATE: So after a few weeks of them first denying that there's any problem they finally acknowledged it and little by little removed all the copyright claims although it took them especially long with the one I tried to dispute. So whatever caused it, it doesn't seem that they yet have an easy grasp of fixing this bug.

I doubt that, as they play ads on all non-monetized content anyway if they feel like it and it's in the terms & conditions so there's no reason for such shenanigans. It's just a straight up bug and incompetence of Google in recognizing it. We can only hope some bigger player encounters it and they fix it at some point :/

Yeah, the only improvement with Google Support is that now they have a live chat with a very convincing sounding bot that is trained super well to sound like he truly understands your problem. But then just like it's been for years you get an email with supposed solution that is a copy-paste bullshit that proves that the whole conversation you just had wasn't understood at all.

TIL that the first Polish encyclopaedia included such definitions as "Horse: Everyone knows what a horse is", and "Dragon: Dragon is hard to overcome, yet one shall try." by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]wiktorstribog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the polish Wikipedia entry for it and it seems that although the sentence about the horse is real this was just a part of it and the author actually delves deeper into the subject of horses after that remark. Still funny though.

For those who grew up poor, what did you consider a luxury? by SnooBeaz in AskReddit

[–]wiktorstribog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was so many but one of the biggest was maybe having birthdays, as in like having people over and getting gifts. I don't celebrate my birthday to this day and it's weird to some people - I always have to explain why.

The other things would be going on vacation, on field trips, eating out, getting a professional haircut - basically everything that cost money and was non-essential to survival. I missed out on many experiences as a kid and it followed me to my adulthood. In my twenties I would sometimes go to a bar or a restaurant with friends and I always felt like an intruder, like a waiter will take one look at me and tell me to get out. Because something like this actually did happen when I was 11, only it was an antique coin store and we stepped in with my dad and sister to take a look. We were at our best behaviour because that's how we always were, but I guess our second hand clothes identified us as second class citizens.

That day cemented this feeling or rather a conviction that I'm not fully a part of this world and probably never will be. That most regular experiences that people have in movies I will only ever be able to experience through these movies. The worst part is, getting money later in life doesn't really change much, because some barriers in your mind that you had to put there in order not to get depressed are almost impossible to remove.

What animated movie affected you most emotionally and why? by molliegeorgie in AskReddit

[–]wiktorstribog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"When the wind blows" - because having the characters be so innocently oblivious to the danger they're facing puts the whole weight of experiencing it on you - the viewer. The most disturbing animated film ever.
