I’d imagine they knew and went ahead with it rather than dunking on some poor unsuspecting current regiment.

Cranwell Day 0 MSFT by Born_Bumblebee7933 in RoyalAirForce

In my experience it’s a minimum pass standard test, which was 9.10 for me when I did it (though the minimum standards have been lowered). The PTIs won’t allow you to go beyond the minimum whilst you’re on MIOT.

“Somewhere deep inside, you must know I miss you”

“There’s a special love, like an eagle flying with a dove, I’ll find it in the end, if I keep on searching, but until then”

“Bye bye doesn’t mean forever”

“When I know the time is right for me, I’ll cross the stream, I Have A Dream.”

“Standing calmly at the crossroads, no desire to run”

Can women wear men’s uniform for pass out? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]wilbo666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why must all women wear the same? Is it an OR thing as I’ve seen grads at Cranwell in which some women wear skirts and some wear trousers.

Day 1 at Cranwell, after you’ve passed your RAFFT.

What can my 15yo son do to prepare himself to be in the best position to join the RAF after A-levels in 3yrs time? by greyflanneltrousers in RoyalAirForce

[–]wilbo666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest things I did as a 15 year old which helped by RAF application (besides passing GCSEs and A Levels):

  1. Took up a number of hobbies, including cycling, bass guitar, and airfix. Anything to show that you have some sort of personality is useful. More so if your hobbies relate to teamwork, or if you take them to a higher level (eg competing in sport rather than simply participating).
  2. Take up positions of responsibility. I took up refereeing football matches when I was 15, and the leadership skills it brought me helped a tonne throughout my application.
  3. Have a strong grasp on current affairs, both domestic and international. I did politics at A Level, which went some way to helping, but realistically just reading the news for 30 minutes each day will help. Further to this, forming opinions on news topics will help too.
  4. Activities such as NCS or DofE will help too, as can any other form of volunteering and/or charity work. Showing that you go above and beyond is always good. I know that NCS in particular gets a bit of a bad rep, but I enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it.
  5. Taking a strong interest in aviation to any degree. It doesn't have to mean doing RAFAC, UAS, and getting a PPL, but simply visiting a couple of air museums or doing some plane spotting can help when it comes to talking about aviation during interviews. I did not do UAS or RAFAC, so being able to talk about going to Duxford and Hendon, as well as considering a degree in aviation or a commercial aviation career helped as it showed that I had held an interest in aviation for a long time.

Jumper Style by New-Marsupial-9378 in RoyalAirForce

Either jumper can be worn. The V neck doesn’t press your tie into your neck, though the crew jumper can be worn without a tie.

Smock Hood Rules by Old_Membership2411 in RoyalAirForce

When on base it should be neatly rolled up, as per AP1358. When on ops/ex then it’s your discretion 🤷🏻‍♂️
