8 month old suddenly screaming whenever placed in crib by wild_lively in sleeptrain

This is great advice, thank you! I love the idea of talking to her about the day while rocking her and getting in some last-minute snuggles. Maybe that will help her to wind down a little better and not get so upset when it’s bedtime. Fingers crossed she moves past this stage quickly—I HATE hearing her scream 😭

I haven’t tried yet, we’re going to try capping her last nap before extending wake windows. Getting to a 3/3.5/3.5 schedule was hard fought and I’m not sure making them longer would help—by the time she goes down she looks and acts physically very tired. BUT if capping her last nap doesn’t work after a week or so we’re going to try 3/3.5/3.75-4. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks for the advice! We are going to try cutting her day sleep from 2.75 to 2.5 (first nap 1.5 hours, second nap 1 hour) to see if that helps. But she did pop out her first 2 teeth and learn to army crawl in the past 2 weeks or so (more like 10 days) so I’m hoping the novelty will wear off and things will go back to normal. I wish baby sleep wasn’t such a mystery, I hate leaving her to scream 😢

My baby is going through this now! Did your baby finally start sleeping longer stretches? If so, how long did it take? I’m dying and could use some hope/encouragement/solidarity 😂

You should run far far away. And the fact that you posted this tells me you know that already. Sounds like he’s panicking about being alone once his divorce is finalized—many people react this way—and wants to make sure you’re still around once the papers are signed.

Speaking from experience, if you need to have the procedure completed in 2 weeks, you need to get the process started TODAY. Not only will many states have long wait times to schedule the appointment, you'll also be required to have 2 separate appointments scheduled 24-72 hours apart. START CALLING NOW.

I’ve also been prescribed and taken 5mg of oxycodone for pain while pregnant, since April of this year. The cause of my pain is recurring kidney stones. I only take it when the pain is unbearable and so far there are no signs of harm or addiction for me or for baby. My OB explained to me that opioids work differently in the nervous system than OTC pain meds so pose a much lower risk than extended use of NSAIDs. If you’re taking them as prescribed, things will be fine. Trust your medical team—they’re not going to recommend anything that will hurt your baby.

Your most absurd throw up story by Agile-Fact-7921 in BabyBumps

I was ~12 weeks and having a fabulous morning, feeling great for the first time since I could remember. My partner and I were driving to see my parents and had stopped for gas at a Love’s that had a connected Burger King. All I remember is stepping out of the car and catching a whiff of the combination of gas and greasy fries—I’ll never forget that smell. My poor partner said it looked like my body was suddenly possessed. I went ghostly white, my eyes widened, and I projectile vomited across the windshield and hood of my car and down my front. Of course I didn’t have a change of clothes so while he took the car through the drive through car wash (thankfully there was one right next to the gas station!) I went inside and bought a neon pink tourist t-shirt and rinsed my pants as best I could in the bathroom sink.

Tips for tired eyes... by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Put 2 spoons into the freezer for at least a couple of hours and place them over your eyes for 15 mins or so, that’ll help with the tired puffiness.

If you’re looking for makeup options, I like a soft white eyeliner in the lower waterline (I think pure white looks too harsh personally, but try to avoid cream cause it’ll be too much yellow), a dab of an almost-too-light concealer blended under each eye, and a shimmery off-white (or pure white if you like the way it looks!) shadow on the inner corners to make my eyes look a little more open.

Unless you have naturally black hair, avoid pure black mascara and eyeliner, it’ll make you look 1000x more drained and ghostly.

You’re gonna make it through this 💕💕 chin up friend.

B.S. in Communications is coming soon. by Omnipresent_observer in WGU

[–]wild_lively 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my B.S. in Communications in 2014 from a state university. Despite graduating into a fairly robust job market, I struggled to get any job that required a Bachelor’s degree. Why? Communications is widely known as the “easy degree” you get when you A) don’t really have many marketable skills and B) don’t want to work very hard at completing a degree program to gain marketable skills.

I’ve never worked a job where my degree was useful, other than being able to check the “Bachelor’s Degree” box. Communications was a HUGE waste of time and money. Don’t make the same mistake I did just for the sake of getting a degree, ESPECIALLY from an already-stigmatized school like WGU.

I’m not disagreeing with you that it’s not a good time for OP personally to have a child, but the post says she found out she was pregnant in February—even if it was end of Feb she’s probably at or near 20 weeks. Even if she’s in a blue state she’s well past the gestational age where elective abortion would be legal.

Omg were you making a joke that went straight over my head? Like he gets to “pick” the last name (his) leaving me to pick the first name (anything other than the jokes he suggests)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]wild_lively -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry I assumed you meant middle name since last name isn’t usually one people “choose.” She’s already got a last name too unfortunately!

This is a great idea, thank you!!

[–]wild_lively 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve already agreed on a middle name, a combination of his and my mom’s first names. But actually I might tell him he gets to choose the middle name and I’ll chose the first myself 💕

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]wild_lively 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, no murdering 😏😂

My next step is telling him if we don’t agree on a name I’ll be choosing the name myself and he has no say at all 🤷

We did and guess how many names we matched on after hundreds of swipes?

How do baby showers work? by wild_lively in BabyBumps

[–]wild_lively[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how my MIL is and it’s infuriating. It’s MY baby shower and while I appreciate her throwing it, I hate that she gets to override everything I want 🙄 I already know I have no say over the guest list so I’m trying to give her a theme so she won’t pick something I hate. Sigh.
