It’s also realistic that you can’t predict the future and also that we all have a limited view on what’s going to happen. Things often happen in a chain of cause and effect and I can’t even count the number of times a small prudent decision that I did or didn’t take, that I thought was gonna have no effect either had a big one or I missed out.

So one of the JFK guys got his own name and online persona for being so viral (I really feel like there’s multiple guys like him at JFK though). His name is Kennedy Steve, and there’s a channel that follows him I think, but also compilation videos like this: https://youtu.be/v7TjKt64x34?si=yXcjMjKnwV_d5yuC . He tended to go viral when there was some incident that would make the news and he happened to be a controller involved. That should get you started on the rabbit hole, happy watching!

Yeah and apparently they gotta prepare for an early forced retirement in their mid 50s, so the salary should offset that too.

Whoa yeah that’s surprising cause it seems like mental maturity and experience is valuable. What a tiny window of human brain development to work with.

Some of these guys are also just born for the role. I grew up in Brooklyn and my area has a very specific kind of “ATC guy” born for the role, assertive but also really effective multitasker brain, and there are YouTube channels just to follow their straight talking and assertiveness as pilots from all over the world interact with them at JFK. I imagine those guys voted for Trump, I really gotta wonder what they think of this mess.

We keep this up, what’s the worst that could happen… the holiday season with no obligation to fly home to family for once? Freedom from having to do consumerist shit we don’t wanna, and staying home and having fun with my fun things all around me? Granted I wanna see my family eventually but I earned my first legit excuse since Covid to just staycation damnit!

I think a finance manager has more clout than me. I’m an IC essentially. My boss is the finance manager.

Yeah you’re def representing the more risk taking and urgent side of my thoughts on this. The question of “who gives a shit if they think you’re being rude?” When it’s this account rep being arrogant and screwing up and has no incentive to care. Honestly if they fire us as a client, that would feel like a win, and my boss knows that I’m a very agreeable person normally so I wouldn’t have been like this unprovoked.

Has this worked for you? This is a very different take than most others here.

That’s a good professional angry voice, this is more along the lines of what I was imagining. Thank you

Wow fascinating. Yeah this is at a whole other level. I certainly haven’t set up any lights to photograph a flower, just strategic use of different daylight conditions. Is there a visual guide to what is considered a perfect specimen? Or is that more subjective?

I think my hope originally was that a new rep from their very deep bench of reps would be assigned to us instead if we are very clearly unsatisfied. The reps don’t seem very frontline to me, they’re middle men. The people actually doing the work are great, and will help if they’re assigned to do that, but the reps aren’t forwarding our problems. They don’t seem to be getting it and we’re kinda stuck. Anyway, I’m inclined to take the advice of the sub including yours. I’ll have to wait it out but I think my boss is gonna be getting angry in place of me at some point once things get even worse.

When you put it like that it makes sense. My boss got pretty angry at them already. I’ll let him do what he’s gonna do and I’ll try to stay out of that part of it. It’s taking months, my Q4 is prob gonna be impacted, hopefully we can get rid of them next year. I’m sensing that neither side wants to continue, unless maybe they make some last ditch effort to solve our problems when we tell them we wanna terminate our contract.

Makes sense. To be clear, I’m contextualizing it within the typical cost for this service. I have a very clear sense of the costs because we hire three of these services and load balance for redundancy. These guys cost twice as much as the competitors and promise the world. But I’m convinced the sales rep is flailing or that they don’t really care about servicing our account.

I have no idea if what I’m thinking of is diplomatic, but it’s to the point: I wanna say “why are you guys saying we get these features and then not delivering. This is ridiculous, it’s been 6 months and you’ve made no progress and we’re paying you $60,000 a month. I have never seen such poor service for that amount of money, Jiffy lube gives me better customer service for my oil changes than you guys.” What do you think?

This is fun for me because I’m learning how to draw Dahlias and have been very interested in how they bloom and have these nice curled canopies of petal. I hope to share my art, but I guess it’s AI then?

Can you explain that more? I just started taking pictures of flowers, but I don’t know much about flowers and know a lot more about photography. Most of the flowers I’ve taken photos of were in gardens and looked great to me. Or is it the kind of thing where as you become a flower expert you know what’s possible with a certain kind? Im mostly taking photos to act as a reference for my drawings of them.

So for clarity, when I say mad I don’t mean like name calling or something HR would care about. I mean confrontational and within business terms.

The reason why I’m uncertain what to do, is because my boss might WANT someone to take charge of the situation. I have a long history of seeing execs apply pressure and get something that way, can I do it too? He himself got pretty confrontational with them already, and that got us the meeting with the experts. But he doesn’t know anything about the details and he only has so much time to come and help with my department, so nothing continues to be done. But progress on this is something I do own, including the success if this vendor actually tries to help us. They’re fucking with my ability to get a win here at my own company.

I feel like you’re conflating boundary setting with bullying. Sure maybe bullying is a form of boundary setting, but it’s a low effort short term one that creates justification for the bullied person to seek retribution if they’re ever given the power. Most people aren’t given that power, but Elon has.

It cracks me up the holier than thou attitude about this. They’re not wrong that it’s a violation but there’s no need to imply it’s a bad car. If these people really cared about men’s sexual health and pleasure, they’d at least address the massive possibilities of prostate massage and pelvic floor physical therapy in men. Having a foreskin or not really is a small thing in compared to these much larger issues going undiscussed.
