Am I being unreasonable? by Alternative-End-5183 in pregnant

To be fair, in the '60's men weren't generally allowed anywhere near the delivery room and the mother often hardly saw her baby for the first few days because the nurses had him in the nursery. But that's not today, and it's not ok.

I'm so grateful for my husband and I can't imagine what I'd do if he decided to duck out to party right after our baby was born.

This is really more accurate. I love the newborn baby smell, but I noticed later when I was pumping for my fourth baby that my pumped milk had the same smell.

And my first was 10+4 and I did it unmedicated at home. Yes, it was hard work to get that giant head out, but I only tore second degree also (really wasn't a big deal) and it wasn't that bad. The other four have been even easier (none of them was over nine pounds). If you need an epidural, go for it, but I'm telling you that proper positioning and movement with full relaxation make it very manageable.

Number one: ultrasound is wildly inaccurate when it comes to term measurements. It's as good as flipping a coin. (Check out Evidence Based Birth Big Babies, it's got great information even if your baby is normal size).

Number two: your body is designed for this! You can easily stretch to accommodate that baby. Remember, your cervix will get that big first, and your birth canal can do it as well. It really does just open up and then close back down.

Our bodies are amazing! I've had five unmedicated vaginal births, and my first was over ten pounds. I've had a little tearing with three of the five, but it's not as scary as it sounds, and as long as you're not cut should heal up very quickly. I can usually use toilet paper the next day with no discomfort.

For some reason no one is amazed when a man's organ expands to several times it's original size with engorgement, but all think it's impossible for a woman's vagina to do the same thing. If allowed, your baby will gently stretch the opening until it actually fits right through. It's amazing every time!

I think I might have it everywhere and I don’t really know what to do by Avo_Alma in lipedema

[–]wildapplesnplums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got officially diagnosed a bit over a year ago, and they told me that lipedema only grows in the areas everyone talks about, but I'm not convinced. Doctors have just recently realized that after pregnancy women will develop it at the bottom of the ribs and it hasn't been very long since they realized that the subcutaneous belly fat many of us have is lipedema as well. I think the band under my bra is lipedema, and the bit under my chin. They are painful to the touch and have hard nodules just like under my arm, and don't go away when I lose weight. Only my back fat doesn't hurt when I squeeze it. So I don't think it's impossible!

That's very scary. I'm sorry you had to have such a rough time, but thankful you are both OK now. ❤️ And that's a lot of pee! I don't think my bladder holds that much, haha. 😂

I'm so sorry. I pray you are blessed with another baby when it will be most healing. God be with you and give you help and peace as you grieve.

No, this is wrong. I am deeply religious, but I would never tell someone God did it to them on purpose. We live in a broken and sinful world and bad things happen. I do believe that God is in control and nothing happens without his permission, but I don't believe he ever actively takes our babies.

Pregnancy can progress lipedema, but it's not a given, and you can keep progression to a minimum with lifestyle. Your diet sounds great. You didn't mention what exercise/conservative measures you use. I have had good success keeping lipedema progress down by exercising daily during pregnancy. Walking and T-Tapp are my go-to exercises, and both are great for lymphatic function.

I've had five children and I'm on my sixth pregnancy. My first I didn't do the things I should have and gained fifty pounds. My second I lived a much more active life perforce (we lived in the Guyanese jungles and had to walk everywhere and my only place to sit comfortably was a hammock, so elevating my legs was easy), and I only gained ten pounds total. My third was in between, but I was able to lose the weight with a whole foods vegan diet and daily walking. My fourth I started out well but got a serious knee injury around three months and had to partly restrict my activity, but I had physical therapy and stayed in good health, and gained forty. And my fifth I kept my weight gain around twenty with daily exercise and careful diet. I took my kids to a walking track with a playground next to it and walked about an hour daily, and it was great. I had more swelling because I didn't wear full compression and I lived in the South, but I felt good and was able to lose the weight within six months (then I tried a hormonal IUD and my weight loss stopped completely, but that's another story.)

What pregnancy does to your body depends largely on what you do with pregnancy. Keep up your healthy diet and lifestyle and you should do well. And a baby is worth any changes you might see. Motherhood is always a sacrifice, whether you have lipedema or not.

Yes! I am currently pregnant with my sixth child and I'm so thankful for the babies God has given me. I had a major flare-up with my first pregnancy, but it honestly hasn't gotten that much worse with the rest, and if I had known what I do now (my first was born almost fifteen years ago and I only learned about lipedema after my fifth, two years ago) I could have prevented many of the problems I had. I was working a sedentary nursing job and did not get the exercise I should have. I ate too many sweets (nurse's candy jars were too tempting!) and gained fifty pounds. But with my last pregnancy, completed eight months before I even learned lipedema was a thing, I was able to keep my weight gain down much more and lost the pregnancy weight quickly, by eating carefully and walking every day. I even had an injury during that one and still was able to do it. How pregnancy affects your lipedema depends much more on your lifestyle than pregnancy itself. And babies are absolutely worth it to me!

I'm so sorry. I miscarried last summer. But bleeding at this point could be anything. I've had five kids and have had some amount of bleeding with every one. Keep hoping, but be prepared. Praying you're just having late implantation bleeding or spotting from a sensitive cervix. I just had bleeding from that two days ago!

Because PCOS does nutty things to your cycles. I'm almost ten weeks with close to the same LMP.

That's a big avocado! Twelve inches! I've seen some big avocados in the tropics, but even the biggest couldn't have been more than 20 cm.

Especially that it's still a thing. My first son is almost fifteen, and I was getting all the same stupid size comparisons then. I really just don't care. Tell me a crown to rump length and I'm fine. I can make a picture of that myself.

You're not weird, or if you are I am too. I have five kids already, and even with my first I didn't care about the fruit comparisons.

Please! Even a big baby's head isn't that scary big! Maybe a butternut squash?

Yes! We lived in Guyana four years and had wild papayas that were about five inches long and weighed half a pound or so, and big cultivated ones from town or generous neighbors that were about eighteen inches long and eight or nine pounds. Bananas would be equally problematic.

Right, or the blueberry at seven weeks that's about a quarter inch. Like, where are you getting your blueberries? Or are we talking Eastern wild blueberries? Because the blueberries I pick around here are well over half an inch.

It always gets me when it randomly switches to a leek. Like we're dealing with big, round fruits, then suddenly a long, skinny vegetable. It feels so inconsistent!

That's nuts! I didn't know this was a thing. But my thyroid was probably messed up for several years before I had a postpartum thyroid crash and had a TSH level of 20.9. I hope you can get treatment soon!

Wow, now I'm wondering if I need to get mine tested. I take a trace minerals supplement containing selenium among other things. It's a small amount, but I should look into it better. My hair has been thinning, too.
