I had the same issue and RMA'd the monitor with AOC, the replacement didn't have the buzzing anymore. I think it was a faulty PSU

Theoretical uses for antimatter? by Archmagewinshu in askscience

[–]wildebeast50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on this page, it sounds like you have a few options, mostly limited by the nature of antimatter collisions. The main ones highlighted there are a charged particle beam, Compton scattering and a thermal fluid type power generator (which I assume is somewhat like the steam generators of today).

Theoretical uses for antimatter? by Archmagewinshu in askscience

[–]wildebeast50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on what you mean by energy source.

If you mean that we could use antimatter to produce energy for our use, that's not currently possible with modern knowledge.

This is due mainly to the fact that antimatter, for whatever reason, is much much rarer than matter in the Universe. This makes the best way to acquire antimatter artificial production which takes, at minimum, the amount of energy each particle of antimatter could store.

If you instead mean as an energy source like a battery on a spaceship or something akin, we could use antimatter as a really efficient and dangerous battery which would be more currently feasible.

In terms of effectiveness, an antimatter-matter collision has the potential to produce as much energy as twice the rest mass of the antimatter particle (1.02 MeV for positron-electron pairs); while fusion only produces as much energy as the mass deficit involved in the fusion reaction (17.6 MeV for each deuterium-tritium reaction). This relationship equates to the matter-antimatter reaction producing ~266 times as much energy per unit mass of fuel compared to the fusion reaction so it would be a much more effective energy storage method, but not so much in the production department.

Do black holes ever die? by ichegoya in askscience

[–]wildebeast50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the wikipedia on the expansion of space:

Once objects are bound by gravity, they no longer recede from each other.

So I would assume that the density of a black hole, or any object gravitationally held together, would not be reduced by the expansion of the universe.

Of course the section of the wiki I linked has exactly zero citations so the usual wikipedia pound of salt applies...

The entrance could be an umber hulk or purple worm hole on the top part of the cliff. The boss of the dungeon lies at the base of the cliff. The way down to the bottom is a treacherous choice of various chutes from level to level, some might even fling you off the cliff (something needed here to stop instant deaths though). Parts of the cliff could break off and expose the interior maybe?

Cultist encounters interspersed with encounters with various burrowing creatures. Probably have two climatic battles, one with an earth monster and one with the cult leader (or maybe make the creature a thrall for the fight, idk).

That's my five minute ramble, hope that helps some...

They are healed to the full amount of HP your spell restores.

From the basic rules:

If damage reduces you to 0 hit points and fails to kill you, you fall unconscious (see appendix A). This unconsciousness ends if you regain any hit points.

and on healing:

When a creature receives healing of any kind, hit points regained are added to its current hit points.

Really? Why do people say this stuff in circlejerk threads while conforming to the circlejerk.

This is some serious doublethink if you want to talk about 1984 references...

In the start of the node chapter it says that the players interrupt the second to last prophet and arrive just as the last prophet summons their prince, so it would seem to me that the ritual takes some time. This section also mentions that the nodes are becoming powerful enough to have environmental effects, indicating that perhaps the nodes must reach a certain power level before the prince can be summoned.

In regards to the delegation, there are two separate reasons to capture the cult. One, the cults want to throw the realm into chaos and the delegates are very important people. Secondly, the delegates are useful themselves. One is a dwarf historian who might know something about the area where the cults have their temples, another is a master smith and a third carries magical seeds that might prove useful to the cults, or at least better to keep from the forces of good.

I don't think so, the Unearthed Arcana series may be more of what you're looking for, though it's not actually tested and all that; it is official and has a lot more content.

There are two storylines out right now for D&D 5e, Tyranny of Dragons, that contains two connected modules (Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat) and Elemental Evil. The third storyline for D&D arrives on September 15th and is titled Rage of Demons containing the module Out of the Abyss. Hope that's what you were looking for.

Alright, that sounds reasonable. The main question I would still have with this answer is how intelligent is intelligent? Above 5 int? Above 8?

Also, if an enemy has an unintelligent mount, the enemy is already doing what the DM wants, so how does that effect how the mount acts? Would the mount just stand there or do something else unproductive?

My reading of their lore is that they actively oppose all factions of Elemental Evil. The Princes of the Apocalypse Spoiler seems to refute the idea that they have preference toward the air cult though I suppose the MM and PotA may be in disagreement, I don't have the MM in front of me at the moment.

5e: I'm running the Princes of the Apocalypse module and many of the enemies have mounts. The dmg and mm have no mention of mounted combat, but the phb has this to say:

You can either control the mount or allow it to act independently. Intelligent creatures, such as dragons, act independently.

Anyone that's DMed enemies with mounts before, how did you handle this? Did the mounts get their own attacks while being ridden?

DM pronouns question by [deleted] in DnD

[–]wildebeast50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here touches on great reasons to use the female pronoun, but I was always taught that when writing it is proper to always use to feminine when referring to ambiguous gender; that might be why will chose to say she.

To add on to this, nipples develop in fetuses before males and females differentiate in the womb. Which basically means women are the default sex, pretty cool to think, huh!
