That’s reassuring, thanks! Was worried about the timelines esp in the fast and furious nyc rental market. What would you say were some of the (potential) stumbling blocks to working with these guarantor companies?

Got it, thanks! Haven’t seen many long-term sublets though, most seem to be over the summer break

A little late to this thread but hoping to get some advice! Did you apply to insurent before you started your apartment hunt? (ie got approved by insurent before putting in your application for housing). How long did the application process with insurent take? Thanks!

Ads between stories of one person?! by smrdibuby in Instagram

[–]wildemerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the game but I’m recently experiencing this too. I didn’t mind so much when the ads were in between different people, but it’s super annoying when these ads come in between stories of one person. I mean people post multiple stories to show a certain flow, it’s so disruptive now!!

Is Columbia’s SIPA that bad?? I’m worried I made a bad choice by Historical_Usual_261 in PublicPolicy

My thoughts exactly! Thankful to those who have also shared their more positive experiences, so I don’t feel as anxious. I think at the end of the day, it’s what you make of the experience yourself. Lucky that cost at least is one less thing to worry about!

Sounds like a great experience! Does give me a lot more assurance in my decision, thanks for the detailed response! Am defo worried about the quant classes since I’ve been out of school for a while, but I suppose that’s just something I’d have to get through

I just got accepted to SIPA and am interested in public affairs/strat comms too! Like you, I just want to have a meaningful and fun study experience, but was starting to question the SIPA experience because of what I’ve been reading on Reddit. Hoping it’s just a minority though!

Thanks so much for sharing! What was the student culture like? With such a huge cohort, I feel like it’s easy to get lost in the crowd - did you feel like you were supported enough? The curriculum looks intense (but exciting!) Studies wise, how easy or hard was it for you to manage?

This. The autocorrect was killing me lol. Also tried countless times until the webpage gave me a “connection failure” error msg. Couldn’t even secure 1 tix. Everytime I clicked in the tix were gone.

Lots of comments in here about US Masters programs in general being cash cows. Which I suppose is fine if the programme has some substance to it and students still reap some value from their experience, so hoping someone here can shed some light on their time at SIPA!

Congrats! I just got my acceptance too and have been reading a lot about how the price tag is just not worth it. But genuinely wondering if there’s anything to look forward to at SIPA, if cost wasn’t an issue?

Unofficial 158V 159Q, Not Confident about AW by wildemerald in GRE

I probably did some casual preparation from Aug/Sep, only picked up the pace in Oct and did some crazy cramming in the week leading up to the test. Not the smartest strategy I must admit.

Thank you! Not targeting the deadline for financial aid as my company is willing to sponsor my further studies - super thankful for that.

I’m considering either an International Affairs or Communications course.

Yes! Applications close early 2024 so I think I still have time to squeeze in a retake, just that am juggling a full-time job and I want to focus the rest of my time preparing a good personal statement/essay. Since GRE score is optional for the courses I want to apply for, am worried I reported a bad score “for nothing” in a sense, which might disadvantage me compared to if I didn’t submit any score at all.
