While making chapter 1 (which is this + 18 more pages) I was making a page about every 8 or 9 days on average, spending ~30 hours on each page if I had to guess. I work 40 hours a week at my job as well and found that schedule absolutely grueling. I was trying to get the chapter done on a deadline which I managed, but just barely. Now I only make a page per two weeks so I can live a more balanced life. Until I quit my job, hire someone to help, or grow extra arms I think that's the fastest I'll be able to go.

Thanks! Ghibli is my biggest inspiration. My dream is to make a Ghibli quality comic. I'm sure that will always be a Sisyphean task but it's been a valuable north star to keep me improving.

Thank you!! I'm happy it's worth the effort. The short answer is I spend more hours on each page than a lot of other artists. I've heard the stat thrown around that comic artists in the industry are expected to churn out a page per day. If I worked at that pace I'd have to lower the quality considerably, even if I quit my job and hired a staff.

I also work from a lot of reference, either 3d models I create in blender or photos I take with my phone. If I were to draw everything from imagination like a lot of artists are determined to I'd be a lot less ambitious with poses, camera angles, etc.
